Review Metal Slug 3 (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)
Arcade anarchy
As we write this we still await the Nintendo Switch Virtual Console, but courtesy of HAMSTER we have the 'ACA' Neo Geo range on Nintendo's latest console. These are essentially faithful ports, designed to emulate the original Neo Geo experience on modern hardware while throwing in a broad range of features and customisation options...
Review Metal Slug 3 (Wii Virtual Console / Neo Geo)
Heavy metal
Due to the bevy of fighting games released for Neo Geo, it's always a refreshing sight to see a game of a different genre from the format re-released on Virtual Console. We've just about hit the jackpot this time — Metal Slug 3 can easily be considered one of the single best games the system ever got. The first and second games in the...

Gallery Finally, Metal Slug Has The Official Book It Deserves
"Thank you!"
Metal Slug is arguably one of the few series from the '90s which has managed to endure and persist despite the passage of time and the advances of technology; it seems that blowing up 2D sprites has a timeless quality to it, and we've personally been really enjoying revisiting these classic games on Switch. If you're a fan of the...
News New Book Aims To Chronicle The Unseen History Of SNK's Metal Slug Series
Metal Slug: The Ultimate History will go behind the scenes
UK publisher Bitmap Books has announced that it is producing an officially-licenced history of SNK's beloved Metal Slug franchise, and has been given "unprecedented access" to the company's archives in order to compile the publication. Metal Slug: The Ultimate History is the first...
News ACA Neo Geo's TATE Mode Hints At A Glorious Future For Vertically-Scrolling Shooters On Switch
Looking sideways
When the Switch was first revealed several (older) members of the Nintendo Life team expressed the opinion that it would be utterly perfect for hosting old-school vertically-scrolling shooters when played in "TATE" mode - basically, when turned on its side so the screen is in portrait ordination rather than landscape. It would seem...
News HAMSTER Releases Updates for All Current ACA Neo Geo Titles on Nintendo Switch
Your system should download it automatically
Last week HAMSTER Corporation promised updates to improve the ACA Neo Geo releases on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Poor colouring and sound synchronisation were key issues that were raised by fans, and the publisher gave itself the target of pushing out updates rather quickly. Those updates have now gone...
News HAMSTER Corporation Promises Improvements in Nintendo Switch ACA Neo Geo Titles
Due by next week
The ACA Neo Geo range has been available for around a week on Nintendo Switch in Europe and Japan, with six titles also arriving in this week's update in North America. This 'Arcade Archive' range has also been available on other current consoles, but publisher HAMSTER Corporation has been aware of some issues with the Switch...

Blaster Master Zero! Neo Geo galore! VOEZ! Bomberman 64! More!
It's Nintendo Download Update time, North American gamers, and it's a relatively busy line-up this week. The Switch has two 'new' games and also six Neo Geo 'ACA' titles, catching the region up with Europe. The 3DS shares one of the tasty Switch releases along with some other titles,...
News Japanese Nintendo Switch Owners Will Be Playing Neo Geo Games Next Month
And Blaster Master Zero, too
UPDATE: As several you have pointed out, this is part of the "Arcade Archives" range which is listed on Nintendo of America's official site. ORIGINAL STORY: Yesterday Nintendo revealed that the Switch Virtual Console won't be active at launch, with more information on the service coming in the future. However, we may...
Video Looking Back At Metal Slug, Everyone's Favourite Run And Gun Shooter
War has rarely been this much fun
Metal Slug is unique in the world of gaming as being a hardcore run-and-gun shooter which practically everyone has heard of. Despite the fact that it launched on the super-exclusive Neo Geo system in the mid '90s when the world was going giddy over 3D visuals, the first title in the franchise found a solid fanbase...

Rayman, 99seconds and more
Wait, what? Another 3DS Virtual Console game? And this one's a Game Boy Color release? Well, if that don't just beat all. Here's what's up and at 'em in this week's bunch. 3DS Virtual Console: Rayman (Game Boy Color, Ubisoft, $4.99, 70 blocks) — The limbless hero lands in Europe today too, so it's a big helping of...
News Japanese Virtual Console List: April 2012
Slowing down
It's a bit of a slow month this time for Japan, as only two new games will be released. Neither are big surprises: Europe already got one a while ago and the other has already been announced for European release. Both of them are pretty nice games though, so although the offerings are slim compared to normal, at least they're of good...
About The Game
The supreme Dot graphics! Take full advantage of versatile weapons and aim for the whole route!
"METAL SLUG 3" is an action game released by SNK in 2000.
It is actually the fourth entry in the METAL SLUG Series of games. Players will be able to use four different characters as they take to the battlefield with an array of weaponry.
New Slugs such as a Drill Slug will also show up in gameplay, leading to even more fierce and exciting action!
The "ACA NEOGEO" series has faithfully reproduced many classic NEOGEO masterpieces.
Players can change various game settings such as game difficulty, and also reproduce the atmosphere of arcade display settings at that time. Players can also compete against each other from all over the world with their high scores.
Please enjoy the masterpiece that built a generation for video games.

My favorite Metal Slug in the entire series. Its also the wackiest Metal Slug too.
If you can find Metal Slug Anthology for cheap (bargain bin, eBay, thru a friend, etc.) that collection has this game and all the others. Great deal!
I am totaly downloading this on my Virtual Console. Heard this is the best Metal Slug game in the series.
Does anyone else think Metal Slug 3 is worth downloading even if you have the Metal Slug Anthology for the Wii? I am thinking about it as the classic controller cannot be used with the Metal Slug Anthology game but it can be with the Virtual Console version. Hope this post makes sense!! I do like these games though and they are better to play with the classic controller.
This game is hard.....
