I will be trying it out on Friday... My boy is interested!!! Or, if you want a quicker review, GIFT it to me* and I, I mean HE will play it immediately!!! LOL *refer to my Wii Address in the signature!
I watched the trailer on the Nintendo Channel and the framerate looked really, really awful. Like so awful that it would make the game unplayable. Is the framerate that bad when you actually play it or was the video just encoded poorly?
Hi guys. I own and run Icon, the developer of Stunt Cars. Vendetta mentioned to me about the forums, so I thought I'd join the discussion.
I read Corbie's review this afternoon, and quickly had a stiff drink to drown my sorrows!
My personal take is this - and I realise I am 100% biased - but I believe the review score was too harsh. We went for a bit of a retro feel with Stunt Cars; our influences were titles such as Super Sprint, Stunt Car Racer, Super Skid Marks. So for example - the music - we wanted to go with catchy 16-bit style tunes, over perhaps a more traditional 'Rock' style racing soundtrack.
We wanted to make the tracks relatively easy to learn, but difficult to master. Perhaps we were a bit too hard with the difficulty when you drive off the track.
But certainly our aim was an old skool style, fast paced racer with plenty of game modes & content.

i'll be playing your game richlcon soon i guess (i'm vaughn). personally i don't care about graphics.
also, about the "messing up sets you back too much" complaint, super mario kart does the same thing, and a lot of people still call it the best mario kart game. it takes you a LONG time to accelerate in after you mess up in that game. you'll probably go from first to last by doing so.
Woah woah, you can go off the tracks in Super Mario Kart all you want to. The only time Lakitu comes into play is when you go off into the water or something. I've played Stunt Cars for several hours with friends and we all agree, it's not very good at all. I know the developer is fishing for good reactions, but giving away free games to people as a way to get positive spin doesn't seem very ethical to me.
RichIcon are you giving this game to some? Can I have a free copy, If not its ok. I like the graphics and visuals myself. I was going to get Stunt cars. Until Corbie gave it such a low score. But your view of this and explaition covenced me to changel my thoughts for this game!
I don't see anything wrong with the publisher giving out free games to allow people a chance to try the game for themselves. I was hoping to see more opinions on the game in this thread, so maybe now we will.
I watched the info video on the Nintendo Channel, and my thought is, "How could they get away with such jerky animation?!" If that video is actual game footage, this game's animation is so jerky, I wouldn't be surprised if it's capable of giving people seizures!
Has anyone seen the info video and played the actual game? Is the animation really as bad as it is in the info video?
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
