Because I was constantly using spoiler indications in the other topic (and was getting tired of it and it slowly began looking like a mess), more people will find the ending pretty soon, and FLUX is out tomorrow in NA, I thought it would be wise to make a spoiler topic.

Only read further if you've beaten the 3rd level, from here on.

FAQ:
Q: I don't know if I have seen the ending or not... I mean, I beat catharsis but then... game over.
A: As far as everybody (except Gaijin maybe) knows, this is the only ending which has been discovered yet. It is unknown if another ending even exists. Personally, I think it's the only possible ending.

Yeah, the gameover is the ending (i think), and its simply beautiful.

There's not really too many spoilers for a Pong style game is there? I'm pretty sure there's no "I am your father" moments or Bruce Willis being revealed as a ghost.

Anyway I got to the end and just saw a white screen with Game Over and then some credits. I assumed that's all there would be - should there be more?

Well, I don't see why people see it as spoilers too. However, in the past, some people have been very angry when they were spoiled with the ending of a BIT.TRIP game. That's why I took no risk.
There's currently a discussion ongoing on the internet. There may be another ending, and people are discussing if it exists and if so, what special "trigger" needs to be triggered.

Bit trip is much more than a Pong style game, and I think it warrants spoilers.

Especially because it has actual cutscenes with information in and out of them.

I use the same username on TVTropes and youtube. look me up!

I was expecting it to last longer. I did my first run through of the game in about an hour. I'm guessing the first cutscene is all of CV's friends leaving him (red one for meat boy, black for JM, blue-ish for robotube, and whitey pink for CGV), second and third cutscenes are very confusing. I think the third one is CV accepting death, knowing that he's still there, but he's ready for it. And then he just slowly.... goes into the light.....

Sad ending, I was looking for a little more closure, and am a bit disappointed. Still, only my first play through. Gonna go through again and see if I can actually get a decent score.

@Starcross64: I pretty much agree with your analysis regarding the first and final cutscenes. And I suppose I too am disappointed with the ending. I wasn't expecting the outcome at all, I was intrinsically hoping for something a little less sad.

I kinda see the game almost as if CV's past endeavors are flashing before him, what with the borrowed music and gameplay elements of other games in the series, along with the various words that pop up in the background. And then it ends with his death, him fading into the fabled white light.

Well, time to go play again to see if I can make it to meta, and maybe not die on the first level.

I thought so too. But I'm thinking that maybe he's fighting off death throughout the game, and then just accepts it at the end. I really don't see why else it would say Game Over at the end. If he were transcending into an afterlife, he would be forever, not game over.

Edit: Unless by game over they literally mean the game is just over, and not by that you lost. Which would then mean the whole transcendence thing makes sense. Hmmmmm. I'm thinking to much, time to go get a drink, probably some root beer.

This game is ridiculous. I can't beat the last level and no longer have any real desire to try, but I'd like to know what happens, as I'm a big fan of the series up to this point. I watched the end cut scene on Youtube, which was pretty neat though really drawn out. What's the last boss like? Is there anything after the credits? It's the spoiler thread, so I assume no one looking in here would mind knowing any of these things.

Come on, friends,

Oh boy here we gooooooo......

This whole thing very much confused me. I agree for sure with Starcross's analysis now that I'm reading it (but I didn't think of it until I read that). I'm still trying to get what the whole ending meant, with the planet that caused the wii remote to start phsyco vibrating and then fading into the white light followed by GAME OVER.

Also, did no one else notice the incredibly short cutscene after the credits? As far as I could tell, it looked like the black paddle thing from all the other cutscenes, which I presume has been representing CV the entire time, seems to be morphing into the state that we have seen CV as in the past, implying perhaps that he is reborn and.... the cycle continues?

For real, or is this a "you've got a feeling" type of things? (and if you know this for sure.... how do you know it?).

Side note, that last boss took me FOREVER!!!

I actually don't remember what happens, if anything, after the credits, so I'll have to go watch that again. I'm pretty sure you can watch the credits without beating the game too. The final boss is the same as the full screen paddle power-up, and to beat it you keep hitting beats back and eventually it goes away.

I'm pretty sure to beat it you have to hit one of the beats 15 times in a row.

@Adam Here's what happens: You come to sort of a bonus stage: Not much is happening and it's not even remotely difficult, I have no idea if it's even possible to die. Suddenly the planet thing that they always show goes by, and as you get closer to the planet the Wii remote starts vibrating like crazy, and then slows down as you move away from it. As you continue, the screens becomes whiter and whiter until you cannot see anything and it's just black white. It stays like this for a few minutes, and then says GAME OVER. The credits roll, and after there is a VERY short cutscene that shows the paddle version (or whatever) of CV that they showed in all the other cutscenes, and he is, IMO, changing back into the CV we have seen in the past.

I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING. What if, during that bonus stage thingy that you go to after beating the game, you MISS all the beats? It's so easy that probably no one did this, but what if you were to do this? Would that be the "trigger" that people have been talking about? Has anyone else tryed this?

Welp. Guess who had an epiphany during the first stage after replaying it.

First cutscene. CV's dead. He's trying to talk to his friends, no one can hear him.
First level. He realizes he's dead. Has now accepted his fate, and copes with it in his most pure form.

Second Cutscene: The five shapes represent the five previous games. CV is at a loss to what they mean. Why are they important?

That's as far as I've gotten for analysis on my second way through. My epiphany in the first level was that while this game is about death, even more so it is about life. About celebrating life, enjoying the beauty of it, and living to our full potential. This is probably my favorite Bit. Trip now. It is simply breathtaking, and it was amazing as I climbed my way up to Meta mode (although I did work my way back to Nether). PS. Any thoughts on the first boss? Seemed like the 2nd and last one from Beat. Note how you have to destroy the core to win. Possibly CV's Epiphany of the level that he had to break his own defenses to realize it.

@Adam: Really? Haven't you beaten most of the other Bit. Trip's? If you have this one should be a cakewalk to at least finish.

I just figured that part was CV actually dying when I first played it. Kinda of like the monitor at a hospital. Rapid beeping, then slowly fading away until...... beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Though that was my first run through, so I'll check it out again.

But I'll try the thing you suggested about missing the constellations (CV in space heaven D:?) This is fun analyzing! =D

And hey Oddy, you haven't been saying much. Thoughts?
