As a big Marvel fan, I've kept an eye on Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth since it came out on the Wii U years ago, waiting for a sale that would justify a game with such humdrum reviews. With Ubisoft's current sale bringing it down to $7.50, I figured that time is now. I was looking forward to a simple fighting game with cool characters, one I could play with my daughter in a year or so when I start teaching her how to play games (and, as a bonus, Storm, who she happens to be named after, is a playable character).
But every time I've tried to turn it on (probably 8-10 attempts thus far), the intro movie runs just fine, then I get to the main menu and everything freezes, the TV makes a horrible buzzing sound, and the came completely crashes. I've deleted and redownloaded it several times and even transferred it from my external hard drive to the system memory and none of it has helped.
Has anyone else experienced this, and is there any way to fix it? Or did I just waste eight bucks?

The same happened to me. I bought the game last year from eShop and I played a lot then. After quite a long break, I wanted to start it again last month, but it never worked since then I tried to delete and reinstall it, but still it doesn't work.
I also asked a lot of questions on various forums, but I've got no solution until now.
Wait? You have a solution? Same t thing is happening to me both Nintendo and Ubisoft keep telling me to call the other no solution seems to be happening I think it has to do with incompatibility with the current system update.
No, no solution, sorry for misunderstanding; my English isn't very good.... I also think it is because of a system update, since it used to work and now it doesn't work anymore.
Nowadays if it's a problem with a licensed 3rd party game, it's an issue that Nintendo doesn't control / want to control anymore. The Seal of Quality only qualifies for Nintendo 1st party games and your own personally trusted 3rd parties/indies. In this case it's Ubisoft I think so you have to contact them instead of Nintendo.
However, if this game got unplayable and the fault is really a Wii U update by Nintendo, then Nintendo has to try and find the problem in the code and update again - they can't break a Wii U game. That's a thing that should be cleared up, in the light of Nintendo's Seal of Quality.
@SKTTR Or remove the game from the eShop at the very least. Knowingly continuing to sell a game that doesn't work anymore is seriously messed up and should be illegal.
Bought this game yesterday and was working fine even with update. However when I registered with ubiplay it froze after I registerd. Even with deleting game data it still freezes on startup. Good thing I didn't buy costume packs.
im having tha same problem az well, game worked @ 1st but dsnt any longer. i'v read some people have complained 2 Ubisoft and they fixed but i cnt confirm dat. Wut i do know that workz in disconnecting tha internet from tha wii u, i tried it & it workz. Game bck on
@mjk420_o: I'll give that a shot. Sure is a pain to have to disconnect any time I want to play that game, though, and that really should get a patch from Ubisoft.

I've had this game and been playing it for a while now. It just started freezing up after the last update. All you have to do is go to Wii u settings and delete your internet connection. The game will work fine then. After your done playing you can connect it back. They really need to fix it but this is how it will work.
