Hi there.
I just bought a Wii from personal seller on local website today.
I bought Wii mainly for video streaming like Netflix and Youtube.
Both of them were successfully downloaded and Netflix just works fine. It streams good,
But not on Youtube app.
As soon as I start Youtube. It pops up loading page but it never goes to next page. Nothing happens after that.
I waited more than half an hour but it still said "loading"
I started having this problem last night (21 Nov 2013), wii just hangs on youtube start up. I deleted channel and reinstalled but it still has same problem. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone, netflix and internet work just fine
Can't comment on if it works for me as I got rid of my Wii when I got my Wii U.
However the fact its not working for blaksbbth either suggests it's either a problem with youtube or a problem with the Nintendo network (maybe maintenance) as opposed to the app being broken.
Does it stay in the app loading screen or in a video loading screen? If it does, thats OK..., the app is broken and doesn't play the videos well because of a stupid "device pairing update" that will likely not be fixed ever. If it is the whole app which hangs and doesn't even let you do a search, maybe the Wii needs an update or the internal memory is damaged, it can be anything. You can still use the Internet Channel but the quality is quite bad and doesn't fill the screen. I hope is not something serious.

Yea. It is so weird.
Internet (Opera) works and Netflix works
BUT Youtube hangs on first page and not going any further.

Try again tomorrow and see what happens.
Thanks for comment
I just checked Wii official website and found out there is another person having same issue like me!
Youtube just on first page hangs!
I've just tried it and it works fine, the buffer problem seems to be still there but with a 1 megabyte connection is not noticeable. I only found one funny thing, i returned to the main screen just when the next video was about to start and suddenly the audio of that video started. when I selected another, the video was running before it switched to the one I picked. Other than that it worked fine. By the way, by update I didn't mean switch to WiiU, I meant a system/firmware update, have you tried it?
I've heard there are issues when transferring to the WiiU, when I get mine, I'll keep using my Wii and not transfer. I've spent quite some bucks to lose them in a flash because of a wierd transfer error.
I actually just recently downloaded the Youtube app for Wii, and while it works, how on Earth do you type a space between words on the search bar!? I've pushed every button on the Wiimote and there is no space on the virtual keyboard...

YouTube app works. Just download it again. It doesn't tell you but it needs an update.
To use space click on the the bottom bracket symbol. It looks something like that - |_|.
If you need me I'll be in the chamber of understanding.
I have a different problem altogether... videos won't even load. When I click on a video, after a couple of seconds it will either tell me that it's unavailable, or it will completely skip it. It does this with every video. I've tried resetting both the app and the Wii itself, I've tried signing out of my account, and I've even tried redownloading the thing, but none of them worked. Help?
If you have an up to date firmware and you've installed the latest YouTube Channel, the only thing that comes up to my mind is to change your region. Mine works on UK.
