Here's what they said:
The Pros:
Old-Fashioned Platforming
Old-Fashioned Difficulty
Some Inspiring Levels

The Cons:
Multiplayer feels tacked on
Controls are not always spot-on
Uneven Difficulty
Some Not-So Inspiring Levels

They also go on to say that "it really makes me hungry for the next Mario title to come out". What a joke

Was this on the show or the site? If it was on the show, who said it? Adam or uh...... whatshername.

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

I would agree with this review though, either way.

Not good level design? IN A MARIO GAME?!?! The people at X-Play musta gotten the wrong game. From what I saw (MAJOR/MINOR SPOILER ALERT!!!!) there were giant floating balls of water that you could swim through!!! (MAJOR/MINOR SPOILER ALERT DONE!!!!) I honestly can't think of a Mario game that has bad/weird level design (besides Super Mario Bros. 2, which actually isn't SMB2).

EDIT: V8 Ninja didn't know he was being a fanboy until after he post the comment, so this comment does not reflect the sponsors of V8 Ninja, which is actually the V8 Ninja, so make of that what you will.

THOSE MORONS. MULTIPLAYER IS NOT TACKED ON. YOU ARE JUST MICROSOFT FANBOYS AND ANY MULTIPLAYER THAT ISN'T ONLINE IS "TACKED ON." THAT MULTIPLAYER IS EPIC AND FUN. Sure some levels will be easier than others, and the controls are probably great, and you suck. "Not so inspiring levels?" No. You are wrong.

UGH! MetalMario storms off in anger...

Not every level design in every game has been good. I thought in SMB3 the level design was horrible in world 4, they just made it bigger to make it pop.

It just makes me angry that a game gets docked for poor multiplayer or whatever because it's not online. That's what I think they saw as a problem.

Now that I look back at it, I was a bit fanboyish. I'll edit the comment so that I'll deter away more "You are a fanboy" comments. But I can't imagine the majority of levels in a Mario game being bad/boring.

"Tacked on" doesn't mean "No online". It does look a little weird that there are four people on the screen at one time.

The multiplayer just seems like it's going to something some people love, and some people hate. XPlay aren't the only ones who weren't sold on the multiplayer. But they are Sony/Micro fanboys, so their Nintendo reviews are always a little low.

I've been through this before. I have made a long list of great Wii games that X-Play has given 5/5 and 4/5.

@V8ninja: They didn't say a majority, they said some. And I agree, if they said a majority that would be some serious BS.

Oh no, someone gave a very anticipated game a slightly less then perfect score. Let's all criticize them for it.

I completely agree with this sarcastic statement.

No, I remember your list, don't worry
But if you've ever watched their show then you know--there's not a lot of Nintendo talk, and when there is it's usually with a hint of disdain. But they can admit when game is really good.

I agree with this unsarcastic agreement of a previous sarcastic comment.

4-5 is a very good score, and the reviewers opinion. With high quality games like this, there will be, as with any game, some difference of opinion, but they will be between good and great. If they say it's good and you think it's great, then that's how the world goes around.

Play it before you disagree though, huh? You can disagree with opinions in the review before you've played it, but an overall score requires an overall look at all aspects of the game, and for that, you need the game.

So shush. For now.
