Would it be worth getting a wii? I have an ps3 and xbox, but I really liked nintendo games when I was younger and right now there are many games that appeal to me. The Wii U comes out later this year so what should I do?

The Wii would be alot cheaper and you can get one now. You can use it to kinda test the waters see how much you like it.

The Wii U will be backwards compatible with Wii games so it depends on how soon you intend to get a Wii U. If you think you'll get a Wii U this year or next year then you should probably just wait until you get that for the Wii games you've missed out on. But if you have any interest in getting older Gamecube games, then get a Wii as the Wii U won't be able to play those.

I recommend getting one now. Lots of games to catch up on.

Just for you.

The Wii U being backwards compatible with Wii games has been mentioned few times in the past and this is one of the articles that mentions it. I also remember it being mentioned that the Wii U wouldn't be backwards compatible with GC games.

get one now. It'll take a good year before the WiiU gets released and full speed, and I don't think the WiiU will be sold bundled with a WiiMote+...you'll need that aswell at some point if you want to play Wii games on it. Plus I recommend enjoying Skyward Sword's motion control experience sooner rather than later, when you'll be too busy exploring the possibilities of the new controller.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

It's been known that the Wii U will be backwards compatible with Wii games and controllers for almost a year now, ever since last year's E3 when Nintendo announced it.

Just be careful if you are buying a Wii to play Gamecube games the newer Wiis now dont have the Gamecube parts in them anymore so you cant play or even use Gamecube controllers on the new Wiis. If you want that you are going to have to buy a used Wii.

However if not being able to play Gamecube games or use Gamecube controllers on the Wii doesnt bother you than you might as well as get a new Wii.

Save your money. The Wii U's backwards compatible, and we're so close to the Wii U launch. You'll regret not waiting. There are not many reasons to buy a Wii at present. It's a little cheaper, but why just settle for the older games when you could play them on the Wii U along with new games over the next five or six years.

Well if you've already made up your mind, here are a few game ideas.
Trauma Team, Wii Sports Resort, Resident Evil 4, Zelda TP, Zelda SS, Mario Kart Wii, Ghost Squad, No More Heroes, Metroid Prime 3, Just Dance 2, Mario Galaxy, Sonic Colors, Muramasa, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Monster Hunter Tri, Sakura Wars V, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii (only if you have people to play with).

...in my pants.

You changed my mind, I guess ill just wait then. Thanks!

Might as well just wait for the Wii U unless you want to play Gamecube games. And yes even though the Wii U may have Gamecube games on the Wii U VC as we have learned from the Wii VC they probably wont have all of them for various reasons.

Just skip both the Wii and Wii U. Buy a PS3 instead!

I already have a PS3.

I would say yes. We still don't have a firm release date for the Wii U, and it could be quite a wait for it to turn up. And anyway, if you shop around you can easily get a new system with a couple of games for £100, and many of the earlier games are dirt cheap now from the likes of Amazon, etc (seriously, you'll be amazed how many are at the £10-£15 mark). Alternatively, you could just wait for Wii U, although bear in mind it'll probably be north of £200.

I go by Lin1876 everywhere in games, so keep an eye out for me!

New_3DaSh_XL

Yeah, if you dont already have one... BUT, keep this in mind, the Wii U might be able to play GameCube games, therefore it will be able to play NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, and will be backwards compatible with Wii games.

Its already been confirmed that it won't be backwards compatible with the GC but there is a chance that GC games will be on Wii U vc.
