Actually, Battle Islands is Wiimote-only. It just defaults to sideways, NES-style, with no motion gimmickry. I've often thought Classic Controller support would be nice, but I think that of most games which use the Wiimote in this way.
This game came out about 6 months too late for me. Now I've got too many other games, and not enough time. But who knows, I might pick it up down the line.
I thought they said everything in the disc release is what they were trying to put on WiiWare, but they couldn't get it all to fit in 40MB. I'll have to hunt down the old Worms: Battle Islands WiiWare thread.
EDIT: Nope, it doesn't say, but I assume that would be the reason. I don't see how all of the levels, game modes, customization options, level creator, and online play could fit in 40MB.
Is there an article that says this is the reason they could not release as WiiWare?
I just got the game (not ready to review it yet). Measured the data size and it appears as .5 gigabyte, which would be around 500 MB. If that is right, then it's too big for WiiWare.
The first 2 reviews are (finally) in. It's gotten a 7/10 from Gamestyle and a 70/100 from AceGamez. Both reviews are very positive.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
I got Space Oddity for Christmas (it was cheap) and after I figured out the motion controls, I really like it. Not as good as World Party, but still worth the money. I actually like using the motion controls to throw grenades and guide missiles. If you can find it for $10 I'd say buy it.
Just wanted to add, this game is $9.99 online at Walmart.com. 97 Cents shipping. Now is the time to buy! It's a very good game, but it could have been on Wiiware. I don't know what the hell they did. It was already submitted to Nintendo. Anyways this is old news now, and it's still better than Space Oddity by far. If anyone gets it I'll be happy to play online matches.
The thing about Battle Islands over Oddity is it has everything Oddity didn't have, including the motion controls.
