Untrue. Even ignoring the CD-i, he had one line in Zelda II. It was such a great line that I don't understand why he hasn't spoken since. I guess he only speaks when he feels like the time is right and something just needs to be said. The line, by the way, is, [SPOILER ALERT] "I found a mirror under the table," spoken aloud to an empty room. Very Shakespearean.
Adam, I am shocked and dismayed. What about... "KASUTO... STRANGE, IT SEEMS DESERTED."
You know what would be neat? If every character except Link could talk, and then Link could be a mute. It could say within the game that Link is incapable of speech, maybe caused by a disease or a tragedy he experienced during his childhood. That would be a clever way of going about it. Just an idea.
Wow, I somehow don't recall that at all, Not Enough Golds. I'm disappointed, too, but for different reasons. I find it much more amusing to say that his only line in the history of Nintendo-made Zeldas is "I found a mirror under the table."
"looks like I can get in the fire place" is the only one that is unequivocally Link speaking. The Kasuto quote is probably Link since a narrator would not opine its strangeness. I don't see why you think Link is talking about the door in the last quote, though. Seems like your standard, voiceless game text.
Why make an exception for Zelda and Ganon? Someone else suggested that (or maybe it is your second time suggesting this, I forget). I don't understand. They both have personality that can be built on, and neither is generally a playable character so there isn't the issue of "But it's supposed to be my voice!"
Oh, I don't care what other people want. If Nintendo does it right, and they quite obviously have the potential to, people will fall behind it slowly but surely. There is often an initial resistance to new concepts, especially with Zelda fans.

Well of course Zelda II didn't differentiate between sign text and townspeople text and Link text and narrator text, so it's tough to tell. The "it's quiet" part of the last quote seems like one of Link's observations. Since the only other real narrator text is "WANT TO GET SOME WATER?", I assumed Link might speak/think the door line.
For sure, though, Link says/thinks: "I found a mirror under the table." "Looks like I can get in the fireplace.", and probably "Strange... it is deserted."
Oh there's one more Link quote that's been in many of the games, originating in Link to the Past. "..."
