As opposed to the Banjo Kazooie style voices they had in TP, can't say I have a strong preference either way, its still a Zelda game all the same, that's all that matters to me really.

Yeah...wait what? Where are these Banjo-Kazooie voices in TP? I'm a B&K fanatic, thought I would've picked up on that...

I mean incoherent mumbling, which always reminded me of the Banjo games for some reason, maybe its just me that thinks that though.

They do that in all the Zelda games, though. All the characters have their little grunts and such. The King of Red Lions always yells "HEY" in a deep voice whenever you talk to him, for example.

I don`t know if Zelda or even Ganondorf talking would be good. Now newcoming bosses wouldn`t hurt if they talked but traditional enemies and allies wouldn`t really fit right.

Now Link talking wouldn`t be apprpriate at all.

Just for you.

True just played Majora recently and it had the same thing, I always presumed it was because it was cartridge based, so they did it for size reasons, but since it continued onto disks it must be deliberate, think I read they prefer not to give them voices, and leave it to the imagination of the player.

I changed my mind. I was playing Star Fox Assault the other day, and I think it would be better if Nintendo's characters stayed mute.

Objection

Well, I disagree with the vast majority. Its the 21st century, good storytelling...cinematic storytelling...NEEDS voice acting. However, perhaps it is better for Nintendo to have someone do it because the voice acting in Mario Sunshine was bad and Starfox was meh. ATLUS for example, gets some great voice acting. Maybe Nintendo could outsource the VA-ing to another company.

On a related note, I think we need to take cinema back to the silent film era. Sometimes actors don't have good voices, and rather than progressing the medium into modernity, we need to assume that our directors don't know what they're doing and reduce their impact on the finished product by giving them fewer options that we'll open our minds to.

Actually voice acting doesnt ruin a game for example resident evil 1 had horrible voice acting but people still play it because of the GAMEPLAY.That is what ruins a game is its gameplay. So yea i dont really care about voice acting as long if there is solid gameplay im happy.

what?

If it did have voice acting, it would take some getting used to, that's for sure. I still hope it doesn't, though one day, you know it will.

Rawr!

I don't believe it needs it, but if it does,

Link better not talk....

If Link wouldn't have a voice, that won't be bad, but I think the other characters should have voice. Okay, we all know that Link never spoke a word. The other thing is, that I love voice acted games. So that explains why I want voices.

For the evolution of the Zelda franchise, I always thought VO is a necessity.
Obviously not Link himself, but the princess, Ganon, etc etc. Need VO.

I mean, Zelda could be made into not only a seriously fun adventure game but it could also have a good story. Look what VO did for Metroid Prime Corruption? It totally drew you into the world.

Untrue. Even ignoring the CD-i, he had one line in Zelda II. It was such a great line that I don't understand why he hasn't spoken since. I guess he only speaks when he feels like the time is right and something just needs to be said. The line, by the way, is,
[SPOILER ALERT]
"I found a mirror under the table," spoken aloud to an empty room. Very Shakespearean.

As long as they don't give Link voice acting, and the voice acting isn't terrible, then I'm fine with it.

Why do people always use games like games like the Zelda/Mario CD-i, and Mario Sunshine's voice acting as an example of why Nintendo shouldn't add voice acting? For one thing, the Zelda/Mario CD-i games were not made by Nintendo, and they were all poorly made with obvious low budgets. Also, Mario Sunshine wasn't made by Nintendo, and Miyamoto was barley even involved in that game.

If you look at games like Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, and Metroid Prime 3, they both have great voice acting. So, as you can see, it can be done.

Mario Sunshine was made by Nintendo

Yeah I just got to that part in Zelda II and I was like, "WTF?"
