We don't know what they're planning. Last year, they announced the Virtual Console Arcade's launch, and released a handful of games on the same day. So the possibility of something being released on that day isn't completely ruled out.

And since then, from all the games they could've picked in the catalog, we've gotten 8 of the probably least-demanded titles. I look at last year's presser as more of a warning than an announcement.

Wow, way to rain on everybody's parade. it's probably true though
Okay, who DIDN'T expect this, WiiWare for the NMS, I mean. They barely push it at E3, so this is where they get the big push. Expect Night Sky and Cave Story there, too, I imagine.

I believe the VCA was announced at the Game Developers Conference. It happened the same time as Spirit Tracks.

I agree, it's very possible that they might make some announcement regarding WiiWare demos at the summit. However, I don't think taking the fact that the summit will have playable demos means that they plan on releasing demos. Hell, I went to the Big Apple Comic Con in the fall and they had a playable, public Cave Story demo there, but we're still waiting on that full game. Playable demos at events mean nothing.
LOL Announcing WiiWare demos would hardly be megaton news, it's more...Why the $%^& did you take so long because it was so obvious how important demos are when you're buying non-refundable games kind of thing.
My guess is a game and a whole bunch of we're so great, lets' pat each other on the back with everyone just wanting to punch both Reggie and Cammie in the head.
As you can see, I'm not holding my breath. I'd love to be proven wrong and they come out saying that their completely redoing their online systems, but I have no hope to that happening.
Looks like the announcement is not bringing back WW demos (at least stateside). LAME! Maybe they're doing a massive redesign and it'll just take more time? (hopes)
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
