will we be able to transfer our downloaded games to new consoles ?

If you mean the next generation, no idea. If you mean a new machine you bought because you like the colour scheme, the answer is no.

I don't think it's possible to definitively say at the moment whether or not our downloads will be transferable to the next console. For all we know Nintendo could launch their next console with a trade-in scheme for Wii owners where we get to keep our VC and Wiiware games and Nintendo get to sell the refurbished consoles to recoup the money lost on the trade-in. On the other hand people like me who have invested heavily in downloadable content could be forced to keep our Wiis alongside whatever future console Nintendo decide to bring out.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo won't screw us over. I think they can link the new system to the same account as the Wii
