Do you think that the Wii is underrated? Just like the Gamecube, when it was in its mainstream, it generated a lot of stick and unpopularity from "Gamers". The Wii has certinly sold well, but critically has not done so well. But, looking at the games, many franchises have reached their pinnicle (Or near to it!) on this format; Super Mario Galaxy 1/2, NSMBW, Mario Kart Wii, Zelda TP (hopefully Wii, I also know its a GC game...but oh well..) Animal Crossing Wii, SSBB, Wii Sports/Resort, Metroid 3 (Mabye other M) etc. Even gems like Endless Ocean. It seems that while it gets a fair bit of criticism for lack of 3rd party support (Which is a concern), Nintendo has truly produced the 1st party results, with some truly fantastic games. Also, it has to be mentioned how little credit it gets for being so innovative, yet able to be stripped back at the same time. SMG2 uses the controlls so subtly, and MKW has great Motion Controls. There was a fear around 2006 that the games would suffer due to the controller, but nintendo has fantasticly resolved it! So lets hear some love for the Wii!
I don't see how it could be underrated; it's the highest-selling console of all time. Ever. Maybe among pretentious "hardcore" gamers who think they're better than John Q. WiiOwner because they play "real" games, but, really. Everyone loves the Wii. Gamecube...now that's a different story. Criminally underrated system, that.
The Wii is hardly underrated. It's massively popular, and gaining a grudging respect even from "hardcore gamers" thanks to franchises like Monster Hunter Tri.
The Gamecube was genuinely disappointing compared to the PS2.

I don't think the gamecube was ever mainstream that was the PS2.
Yeah, the Gamecube struggled with the Xbox to be second place (winning easily in Japan, but failing in other places, such as the US). The Playstation 2 was so far ahead it was like trying to compare the PSP to the DS.
The only thing I think is underrated about Wii is how many really good, really cheap games you can get. For any low-budget gamer the Wii is amazing!
Think about it: the console comes with two games that are actually worth playing yet only costs $200. There are literally dozens of really good (retail) Wii games available for under $20, and I could probably name 20 titles worth owning that sell for $10 or less. If you can afford to pay $60 for new games every month, that's great... but Wii gives me far more gaming enjoyment than I can handle without breaking my budget.
All my friends ditched their Wii consoles for Xbox 360, because of online and "better" games, so in my life ya it's underrated, but over the world it's alot more popular. I think there's plenty of good games to play, thiers at least 5 or 6 games I still want that are still 50 USD, and a few more under that which are like 40 USD. Plus, theres like what, 300 VC games? There's no way you couldn't have enough hardcore games to play, and cheap, pretty fulfilling Wiiware games as well. Good job Nintendo.
Yeah, what i mean is, the Wii is Critically underated. While it has sold a lot of units, it scores poorly amongst most critics as a game console. When I mean Mainstream, I mean its current life span, when people were buying them. Oh and my post is in no way disrespectful of the Wii. I mean it to show how great a console is, yet how the media often portray it in a terrible light! I think its fantastic value as a console!

Oh my god, totally. I freaking love the Gamecube. It seems a ton of people hate it for no good reason.
The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

It's overrated by the Ninty fanboys and the uneducated swine who purchase it to keep up with some stupid fad
It's underrated by the pompous jerks that wouldn't know a good game if it bit them on the @$$
I 2nd That!
The Console dosen't make the game look good, The games is what makes the Console awesome.
If Nintendo did't have Shigeru Miyamoto Making Great Games back then, Nintendo wouldn't be still here today.

I don't think so. When you get down to it, it's very similiar to the 360, which had already been on the market for a year. It's fairly impressive hardware, but it's really just more of the same with prettier graphics. Sony had completely dominated for 2 straight generations. I think it was time for them to get knocked off their high horse and get a little reality check.

Aye, but is the new king as good as the last? Looking at the quality of most of the games thus far, I have to say that in my humble opinion, it is clearly not.
