I am quite surprised at how few people have been talking about the golf on this forum.
At first I was worried as it seemed so different to play compared to Wii Sports golf, but after a while it started to fall into place and now I absolutely love the new golf game.
A massive new feature is the ability to put backspin on iron shots – when you take the club back and the swing forwards, roughly stop level with your legs and don't follow through with the rest of your swing. The results are fantastic, especially if you're able to land the green.
The three new holes to unlock are cool, the final green on hole 21 is insane!
Golf in resort is an absolute blast. Although I find myself playing disc golf more often, regular golf is a massive improvement over the original. Its amazing how much of a difference the Motion+ makes

I have not put much time in it because I have been focusing on other things.
Once I quit focusing on the guages and backswing, I have done ok though, and am getting used to the new putting sensitivity. Shot a -2 on the Resort 9, so I am getting there, not great yet.
I forgot about the bonus holes, I have no idea how to unlock them....as time goes by I will play this game more.
Good thread I am a big fan of Wii Sports Golf!
IGN: The holiday Wii lineup looks thin for the hardcore crowd. We see this. Gamers see this. What, if anything, is Nintendo planning to address it?
Oh good, I am neither a gamer or hardcore. Saves me from having to be IGNorant. Right, Down, A, Down, Right, Up
For me, golf is the best option and has the most longevity as a one player game on WSR and is also probably the most serious of the 12 games in multiplayer mode. Saying that, it is still amazing fun to play with friends!
My best so far is -8 on nine hole classic and -4 on nine hole resort.

-8? Good lord!

Well in this one it is a LOT easier to place your shot where you want it. I'm still struggling with putting though, but my short game has always been a problem. In any golf game, and in real life.

Last night I unlocked the special holes on golf and disc golf. I think it actually has more to do with your status score, than your actual game score. I didn't have all of the courses under par, and they still unlocked.
I LOVE the special 3 holes. I wish the whole resort had been designed like that, really sweet. Well a nice bonus, in any case. I guess if you tie on the resort 9 you have to throwdown on a 3 hole playoff.
Also I have grasped the controls and like them better than the original, which is a big deal for me. I like how you can reset the angle of the fade meter to whatever by pushing 'b', that is sweet, do not have to stand to play, I stand at work all day, thank you kindly. And you set your own swing speed to whatever with the backswing meter. They did a good job.

I love the game but am still trying to figure the putting controls. It's maddeningly difficult to hit tap-ins, isn't it? The pitching control is excellent -- I've played 36 holes and already hit the pin four times on pitches. And I love the selection of clubs this time around, as opposed to the driver/iron/wedge/putter selection from Wii Sports.
With tap ins - I watch the putter. Seems like if you hit soft it kind of stops at the bottom of the stroke, so you have to find the right amount of force/swing to go jsut over center, and boop, tap in. I have not had problems with that, just consistency, but it is also muscle memory inconsistency on my part....

My advice for tap-ins on the green would be - pull the club back a decent amount (not like you would for a long putt but a good amount) and then gently follow through depending on how far away you are. If you're right over the hole then just caress the ball very gently but if you're 1 bar away from the hole then stroke it a little harder.
I think I'm correct in saying that you need to shoot a par or better on all 6 three hole courses to unlock the extra three holes.
I've unlocked it without ever having played the "Resort" course. In fact, it unlocked after a plus-one on the nine-hole "Classic" course, so I think it's tied to reps or overall ranking.
By the way, minus-five on the nine-hole "Classic" course.
I'm finding the resort course hard compared to the classic. I've got a -10 on the classic now but only -5 on the resort so far, although I keep playing the classic over and over - so glad they included it in the game!

Agreed about including the Classic course. It's nice to have the option to play 18 or even 21 holes. I'm kind of keeping the Resort course as a nice little dessert for sometime a few weeks from now. I really want to smash the Classic course before I graduate to Resort.
