Topic: Wii channels - Do you use?

I have all of them downloaded except for CheckMiiOut channel, which is pretty stupid. I only really use the Nintendo Channel and Netflix. Unless you count the disc channel, of course. I used to use the internet channel, just because it's on the Wii, but I have a computer, so what's the point?
Oh, I forgot the Everybody Votes channel. I used to use it, but I just got tired of it, I guess, and I don't use it much anymore.

The prospect of Nintendo channels could have been so much greater, and I hope they expand on it for the 3DS and the Wii's eventual successor.

I've tried out all the channels available to UK Wii owners, and some of them are pretty much a waste of time.

The photo channel was fun to begin with, but my Wii doesn't seem to recognise my SD cards any more (it is a high capacity one with games on it) - but then, I don't have a need to fiddle around with photos. I don't use it anymore.

I don't really enjoy the Everybody Votes channel. It just seems so pointless. I Deleted that one.

The horoscope channel was an absolute waste of download time, but I didn't have high hopes for it anyway.

The Mii channel is my favourite channel, but I don't use it any more unless I have an idea for a mii. Related to this, I used to visit the Mii Contest channel a lot until I realised it was pretty much just Indiana Joneses and Peter Griffins. And when it came to the contests themselves (as opposed to the miis submitted that day), everyone seemed to submit the same Mii - usually incorporating some symbol for a face - for example if a contest was "A sporting person!" the contest would be filled with blank heads with the olympic rings on them. This annoyed me to no end - especially if I spent a while making a unique entry only to be beaten by 700 Barack Obamas. Thus, I've given up on this channel.

I like the Nintendo channel for the compiled playtime stats, but its video service is useless to me, having such a substandard Internet connection.

And I'd really like to be able to watch the videos on the Nintendo channel.

I don't bother with the forcast channel, because in the time it takes to download onto my Wii, I can check on the BBC interactive service. I'm not sure the Weather channel has a listing for my area, lumping me in with London, which would be another disadvantage.

The News Channel, on the other hand, is much more appealing to me, although I'll only visit it if I'm bored. It's loading times are also longer than getting the news from an alternate source.

I downloaded the BBC iPlayer on its release, and deleted it the same day. It didn't occur to me I would need a faster connection.

I still use Wii Shop channel, for obvious reasons.

Finally, I get the most use out of the Internet Channel - often while breaking from MH3 to check up on the forum topics or maybe to check this website, although due to the aforementioned Internet connection (and the Wii connecting wirelessly), I stay away from sites with excessive graphics.

I'd like to see a channel that list all games you have, so you can directly register all your games, it should suggest games based on what you have, and maybe even show you how many people are playing what, top ten or 20 currently being played.

There are a few very good miis in the posting station though.

I saw a Sheldon (The Big Bang Theory) mii that I fell head over heels in love with, but I couldn't copy it to my disk, because it was actually someone's avatar (who had taken part in one of the competitions).

Also, when browsing and giving out faves/likes or general kudos, you never know whether the person who submitted the Mii came up with the idea until you happen across an identical one. Then you can probably tell there are at least 20 more identical ones and several others of varying likenesses.

My designs are pretty unique (except for Goemon and Ebisumaru which are stylised characters anyway).

I really don't count the Disk Channel.

Let's see here...
Photo Channel is useful when you want to share photos from your digital camera with a group. Nice, big screen and easy controls.
Wii Shop, of course. Who doesn't?
Mii Channel... Since I hit 90+ Miis, not so much.
Weather Channel... No, never. Weather changes every 10 minutes, this channel changes every 10 hours. Useless.
News Channel... Sometimes. I prefer browsing news on a PC, but the News Channel isn't half bad.
Check Mii Out... Not much lately. Just been submitting Miis that have nothing at all to do with the theme and see how high they end up. On rare occasion, inspiration for a new Mii.
Everybody Votes... Nope. I started getting too many correct answers and got bummed out.
Internet Channel... Faster than my ancient PC, but limited in capability, so sometimes to often.
Nintendo Channel, all the time, who doesn't? DS demos, video of most Wii/DS titles, Nintendo Week... THE reason to turn WiiConnect24 on.

The only channel I think they missed out on is the Geography Channel. They've got the globe from the Weather Channel, plug in some trivia about all the countries of the world with online leaderboards and maybe, just maybe, if a miracle occurs, children will be able to find their home country on a globe... But I wouldn't hold my breath.

Disk Channel - Duh, retail games are fun.
Mii Channel - Occasionally, if I get an idea for a Mii or someone new is playing on my Wii.
Photo Channel - Nope. All my photos are on iPhoto on my compy.
Weather Channel - How is this so freaking slow? I check on my iphone or computer.
News Channel - I generally read my news online, but it does have a very nice layout and good selection of stories. It's really not bad, especially if you're interested in a specific region's news. I occasionally go on it.
Internet Channel - I have a computer, so I never use this. I only downloaded it, because it was made free again. It'll be the first thing to go when my memory is filled up.
Nintendo Channel - Love the trailers for games. Nintendo week is obviously aimed at kids (and is therefore kind of annoying), but it does give decent previews. I also do game recommendations and download DS demos when something interesting is up.
Everybody Votes - Played with for two days, and then deleted.
Check Mii Out - Not into Miis enough to really bother with this.
Netflix - BF has on PS3, so we watch on that.
Wii Fit Plus Channel* - Super useful. I haven't actually worked out with Wii Fit for a long time (I've been running/swimming a lot), so it's really convenient to just use the channel to track your weight. I use this just about daily.
Mario Kart Channel - It's not installed on my console, but I get messages from it. I never get around to participating in the tournaments though.

I could basically do without everything except the Disk, Mii, Shop, Nintendo, and Wii Fit Plus channels. It's nice that they have the extra features though. I don't think we'll see much more in the way of channels on the Wii. There will probably be more functionality on the Wii2.

I do have to say that out of all of this generation's home screen layouts, I find the Wii's channel menu system the most attractive and user friendly menu screen.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Some channels I wouldn't mind having:
Youtube
Hulu
(retail) Game Demo service

Honestly I dont think they will make any new ones. However I do wish they would do an update to the Mii Channel.
I have them all sadly and only use two. Nintendo Channel and Netflixs Channel.

Obviously, I use the Disc and Shop Channels. I still use the Nintendo, Everybody Votes, and Check Mii Out Channels once a week. I don't use the Mii Channel much anymore, but I can't deny its greatness over the years. The rest are either inferior, redundant things I can just do on a computer or stuff I don't care about.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

I use the internet and news channel when I'm in bed before to go to sleep and the nintendo channel, but it's not updated very often... the independent web sites have more videos!

It wasn't 'a food,' but rather it was pasta. One method of checking to see if pasta (particularly spaghetti or other long noodles) is ready is to hurl it against the wall. If it sticks, it's good. If it doesn't, keep cooking. Seriously. It isn't a bad poll question by any means.

Now you know who came up with that question
