Release it in an episodic format for 500 points each, but add additional episodes exclusive to WiiWare.
Didn't realize people actually requested to be gouged....next you're gonna ask for another FF4: The After Years?
Scott Pilgrim's a 10 dollar game that gets boring (like almost all beat em ups, RPG elements or not) in under an hour...you're really not missing much--it's basically a modernized River City Rampage--and who honestly enjoys mashing an attack button and hoping their move connects first for more than 10 minutes at a time?
Yeah but Megaman 10 on Live is 194 MB, same features and graphics than the Wii (minus resolution). If they can compress that shouldn't it be able to fit?
That's because all they really did was to take the music and turn it into MP3s. The music for the Wiiware version much more closely mirrors NES music--similar-to-identical sampleset, restrictions, and sample-based module music (instead of space-hogging mp3s). However, Scot Pilgrims music actually takes advantage of its filetype and couldn't be properly downconverted without just being remade without live recordings. MM9/MM10 = "started" as Wiiware, converted to PSN and made larger; Scot Pilgrim = started as PSN/XBLA, would need to somehow get ported and get smaller with no quality loss.
It's not worth the extra effort of paying one or a few people for a couple of months to make the game work on WiiWare.
This is what happens when Nintendo tries to be different, it makes third parties have to give the system extra attention and when it's something that might not even make a lot of money (WiiWare) it just doesn't make sense to them from a business perspective. I'm sure they looked at the option, but it comes down to money. Ubisoft does have games on WiiWare so they probably know how much money it can make and how much it costs to put a game on there for them. We don't.
And hoenstly, anyone who owns a Wii that doesn't have a PS3 or Xbox by now is just silly. lol
The main reason Ubisoft didn't develop this for WiiWare is because they can actually make a profit on PSN and XBLA. Wii might be the top-selling console but it's last in users who actually use their console to play online or download games. Also, WiiWare is a good service on it's own but compared to PSN/XBLA, it's pretty terrible and lacking.
Why exactly can't they make a profit on Nintendo's console ? They already have development kits and it's not a retail game so the costs are a lot less even if they sell occasionally they would still make a profit that's the whole point of being a downloadable product. Apparently the Wiiware is the cheapest to develop for.
Taken off this website http://www.warioworld.com/apply/ "Wii and DS Development Kits: Approximate development costs range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the size of your team. Financial stability is expected by Authorized Developers in order to purchase the necessary development equipment for your project. "
I don't think it's fair to compare the shop to XBLA or PSN because the shop channel wasn't designed to be an all encompassing operating system that does everything.
Correctly me if I'm wrong but I don't think the Wii supports Adobe Flash. Scott Pilgrim VS. The World: The Game was made in Adobe Flash and since the Xbox 360 and PS3 support Flash, it's easy to release on both systems. Bit difficult with the Wii and the programmers would have to code the game from scratch and make the game smaller.
who honestly enjoys mashing an attack button and hoping their move connects first for more than 10 minutes at a time?
The people who spent countless hours playing Final Fight in the arcades? The People who spent countless hours playing Castle Crashers with their friends? Or anybody who enjoys killing lots and lots of dudes in a Beat 'em up game? Or somebody who actually has someone to enjoy it with?
And hoenstly, anyone who owns a Wii that doesn't have a PS3 or Xbox by now is just silly. lol
Psh, I have a DSi and a Wii, and that's more than enough gaming for one person.
word. and not everybody can afford multiple consoles. my wii was my first now generation console, and it was my only one for 2 years. I fared just fine.

As did I, but then again, I still have a PS2, which trumps all.
So the wii can have Jett Rocket, which pushed the whole idea of a download game, but not Scott Pilgrim? I mean, just by looks alone, and Ive played Jett Rocket, but I highly doubt that Scott Pilgrim has more file size than that. And thats just one of several wiiware games
FF6: Release year- 1994 Kefka's birthday - November 9th So.... my life is practically mirroring Kefka? Cool.
Lieutenant Commander of the Lesbian Love Brigade
There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
Sonic 4 had to be seriously compromised to fit on WiiWare: the graphics are jaggier and the music is badly-done MIDI. Do you want Scott Pilgrim to have badly-done MIDI?
...Scott Pilgim's epic soundtrack is the only thing keeping the filesize so big, actually.

I think Sonic looks great on the Wii. I didn't notice any jaggies. I'm sure it looks better on XBox and PS3 though.
Yeah, even on the iPhone Sonic 4 is over twice the filesize of the Wii version, and the iPhone version was the weakest version. Nintendo's filesize limit really screwed things up this time. I'd rather it not happen to Scott Pilgrim.
so a techno-y sounding song was changed completely to sound the exact same quality but a bit more techno-y.
That's nice.
Slightly different and the Wii is more like what I would expect on a Genesis. Clearly the music is ruined!!!1111!11! That's nothing. Especially compared to actually ruined music ports like DKC GBA or something.
I think I've proven like 5 people definitively wrong in the last 24 hours. Cool.
If I remember correctly, Scott Pilgrim's demo had a file size of like 90MB. The download limit for WW is 40. So even skipping the whole music MIDI vs. high er quality aspect, there's no way it could have been fit into 40MB without cutting some serious content out. Which would suck, since Scott Pilgrim isn't that long to begin with. (Not a criticism so much as an observation, i realize it goes with the genre.)
