Crude Humor, Mild Cartoon Violence, Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol
ESRB, you are so very silly. People under the age of 12 know about alcohol. I have just started playing the game myself, so I have to wonder what the "suggestive themes" are. By the way, you can search ESRB.com for rating information on any game. That's how I found out.
If you are under 13 and need parental permission to play games T and up, you should have your parents look into it. I really don't see this game as inappropriate for kids so far (I've played a few hours of the game and beaten the first rival king). It is basically a fairy tale-themed Pikmin with some minor town management. If I had kids, I wouldn't hesitate to play it in front of them at any age.
That reminds me...really need to pick this up in the next month or so, when I have an extra $30 lying around. It was cool to see them giving it some love on Nintendo Week...I mean, sure the show kind of annoys me since its just a 12-minute long, cringe-worthy acted, commercial...but it was still cool to see. Also, after playing XSeed's amazing Retro Game Challenge, I really want to support them more and buy another of their games.
@Briun: Well, i don't want people to tell me WHAT the suggestive themes are, but i want them to tell me IF there are any. and the reason why i put three periods (...) at the end of my sentance is because i usually don't want to ask the WHOLE question just on the topic. Does that answer all of your questions?
If I had kids, I wouldn't hesitate to play it in front of them at any age.
You should atleast consider letting them play. lol

It seems a bit OTT to rate this as a Teen upwards game, i've played through the whole game and i don't think there's anything which would obviously cause offense in the whole game. As already mentioned there is an alcohol reference, King Duvroc is clearly a drunk, but hey, plenty of films and tv shows people drinking so i didn't really think this was a big deal. However, there is quite a bit of dark/risque humour in the game, but it's quite subtle so it's possible a child may not even pick up on some of the references. BTW I'm assuming you're talking about the American version of the game, i'm sure (but can't check as i'm on my lunch break at work) it's only rated 7+ by PEGI. I'm aware you guys got the game sometime after us here so i don't know whether they changed much when they localised the game for America?
Ferne says a few things things that a suggestive that are pretty suggestive especially before you fly to the last boss. Also after you get a new princess the cats symbolize....
