FYI I'm not the biggest HVS fan, I'm not intentionally sticking up for the game itself I'm just saying you hating The Conduit is great in all but to just keep it down a notch.
Alright, Bahamut. He has a point. In the future, can you link to reviews less ferociously? Take that linking down a notch!

Well that's not a very generous assumption, Chrono! I like to think that he linked it because, you know, ZP is extremely popular and a lot of people love to talk about it every week in a thread.
I didn't say keep it down a notch with those links I said keep it down a notch on his little rant thats going on but you didn't understand but seriously whats new?
ZP is exrtremely popular? So popular that there are many threads about them? Every week? Well how about some links then maybe I'll start to believe you since I have seen no threads on this site on ZP besides one.
By the way I edited my post a little with some enters and what-not to help you be able to read it, since your sorta slow but what are fellow NL users for?
Is it me or reviewers extra harsh on this game besides Ign who gave it a positive though not hugely impressed review?
Nope. The Conduit sucks. It's that simple and here's why my copy has been sat on a shelf waiting for trade-in:
Single Player: Without doubt the most dull, uninspired and horribly generic approaches to single player content ever. Multi Player: Lame level design, terrible matching algorithm, horrible 3 minute+ waits for matches, random killing, high spawn-into-wall ratio and totally un-forgivable forced game options.
To give you an idea of how bad multi-player is, out of 10 matches I spawned into a wall 6 times and started two team games with only one opponent. I've hardly ever found any ideal matching players and the fact that you can't quit out of the game when you're stuck in a wall is simply unforgivable.
The Graphics: Oh dear, all shiny and no style. It's a real mixed bag, from the N64 quality book-cases to the pointless use of bump-mapping on walls (because you're going to want to face a wall when playing a FPS - must be something HVS have a hard-on for, walls) The character design is terrible with maybe two or three enemy types being noteworthy and the locales are really just a demonstration for some spot effects like lighting - again there was probably only two area that had any sort of impact. The bosses by the way are truly uninspiring both visually and in terms of challenge (other than for standing still wasting ammo for minutes on end)
The Sound: Oh dear god. Terrible voice acting and horrible music (I turned it off after only five minutes of play)
The Controls; Probably the only good thing about the game, but in essense totally overkill. The other customisation options are largely worthless. I can only liken the customisation being the equivalent of installing Windows - but less productive.
Like most HVS stuff, I think the only purpose of The Conduit was to demo their engine and nothing more. The same will go for The Grinder which in itself looks to be nothing more than an evolution of the engine wrapped around a whole ubnch of generic enemies and dull environments. If it gets above 5/10 I'd be surprised.
To be honest, my attention for HVS has moved on to Vicarious Visions and GH5, who seem to be REALLY pushing the Wii in the right direction rather than just shoving only old crap in our faces and claiming it's the next best thing. Oh, and before people start screaming fanboy GH5 will be my first game in the series.
To compare The Conduit to Perfect Dark is laughable. If Perfect Dark were brought bang up-to-date with Metroid Prime (or even Red Steel) quality visuals and online multi-player it'd wipe the floor with practically every FPS on the market. There's a reason why it remains one of the greatest games in gaming history - the only reason The Conduit should be remembered if because HVS far exceed even Bplus when it comes to spouting bull about their products.

The Plot: If so lame and predicatable it make me want to puke. If Nintendo ever do get around to providing game patches I'd look forward to one that removes any plot reference completely.

Now, anyone want to buy another copy of The Conduit?
@Machu: I have to be now more than ever because Daz took away my 7/10 thunder
@ChronoCross: Since when was it a crime to argue/rant about a game on a forum? Which, by the way, you had a choice of reading. ZP is extremely popular, if you go on Google and just type in "Zero" the first link that will show up is ZP Reviews. I also posted his WSR reviews in a WSR thread. I post the reviews because I know a lot of Nintendo fans don't watch him because he rarely reviews Wii games. Here he reviewed 2 big-name Wii titles, so I posted the links for everybody the enjoy.
If you excuse me now, I have to go back to my cell in Alcatraz. I have a lifetime sentence for posting links.
@Calculon: Perfect Dark was good for it's time, but like Goldeneye, it doesn't hold up very well anymore.
he did say if you brought them up to todays standards, in other words, if you remade the same quality game it was back then now, it would break the ankles of its competition, and i quite agree lol

Agreed. Nostalgia is the downfall of games. Despite what you want yourself to believe Ocarina of Time is not better than Twilight Princess and the original Mario Bros is not the greatest game ever made. Feel free to disagree but I will not argue on this point, I feel that Yahtzee can more than convey my feelings:
I feel ya'. I took me about 10 hours total to defeat single player mode. That's about the same time it took me to beat Onslaught. I was a bit disappointed after the hype. Multiplayer is not fun to me. I have more fun playing Water Warfare online.
I've not played it in a while. I like the single player to an extent, stylistically very derivative yes, but fun in arcade Virtua Cop 2 kinda way. Multi-player, pretty poor show - I spawned beneath a map once, really weird. I hated the waiting for a match, it just wasn't worth it - and I say that as someone who grew up loading C64 games of a datacasette...

No but this is your opinion. its not everyones. if that guy over there says Mario bros is the best game ever then thats what he thinks. Don't try to imply facts that are just merely your opinion.

@Sean: I think OoT is better than TP and Mario 3 is better than Mario World. But games get better due to technological advancements. That's why TP is better than OoT. If Super Mario Bros 3 came out in 1985 and SMB came out in 1990, everybody would say how SMB sucks compared to 3. However memories of a game, impact when it came out, time spent, story, difficulty, and certain qualities of a game can make you like it better. Do you honestly think OoT would be so well received if it came out in the exact same form today? No, it wouldn't.
Games that people like are opinionated, and if some guy likes SMB as his favorite game, nothing against him, that's his opinion. If I have Ocarina as my favorite game ever, that's my opinion. However technology makes games better, but not more like-able.
It's a difficult concept to grasp, and my poor explaining doesn't help, but try to open your mind and understand, it's really a rather insightful field of gaming to delve in to.
I won't say anymore on the subject because I cannot, just try to grasp this concept.
@Bahamut Zero Actually OoT is better than TP and Mario 3 is better than Mario World. And really what your saying is that The Conduit sucks because of the technology? And seriously what game got Best Game Ever on GameFaqs? Do you know?

Again this is all your OPINION. If i think OOT is the best game ever..thats my opinion and thats what i think. Also yes i understand about the technology part but,how come i'm still going back to SMB1?...i love doing speed-runs on that game lol but there you go...old games can still be very fun and have very very good story-lines..unlike games we usually have today to say the least...TP's story-line was a mere re-make of OOT with some new parts thrown in like Midna and the locations and other such stuff but other than that...i seen hyrule in TP....how?...all the past games...the locations the same...but still i thought TP was fantastic but to me..IN MY OPINION...not better than OOT. At the end of the day...you are not stating facts...you are stating your opinion which again i respect, however just cuz its more advanced in terms of tech, does NOT mean its better..unless of course..you are a graphics whore. My opinion,my facts.

@Sean: sigh. I see you didn't try to understand. Ah well. I can't make you try to understand.
Lol, man, you seem to be very similar to alexsays more and more everytime i see your comments. If only you could condense it to 5-7 word answers, youd be his twin (of course not really but whatever lol )

@ChronoCross: The Conduit? Where did that come from? We're not talking about that.
@Sean: sigh. I see you didn't try to understand. Ah well. I can't make you try to understand.
Well from what i understand is your a graphics whore who only appericiates games with the best tech in them. I know you can't,you never seem to make sense.

I hope someday they make a good fps for wii. I think I'll skip conduit in favor of prime trilogy, but I worry other companies will be like "not many people bought conduit. Hardcore games don't sell on wii, let's make family mini sports party festival 8 instead." obviously, the console has the potential for a great fps. It would be a shame if nobody realized it.
