I did and I have it thanks to it coming out in Japan a couple of weeks ago! Given that the Sega titles seem to be coming out elsewhere pretty close to the Japanese release I would expect this in EU/NA in the next couple of weeks.
Despite the fact that i still have the original Genesis cart, have d/l'd the Genesis VC release (as well as II), have the arcade version through XBLA and have emulated copies of a few other versions, i'd still pick it up. Golden Axe (along with Streets of Rage 2) is one of those games that i never even realized was one of my all-time favorites until i noticed how many different versions i have and how often i have and still play it. I recall one summer during college where the only games played were US FFIII for SNES (aka FFVI) and Golden Axe for Genesis.
I've been waiting for the arcade version simply because the Megadrive version does not have support for component cables. I'd have bought it over a year ago if it did but looks like I can just get the arcade game now.
No thanks. The Genesis/MD version is just fine. I don't want to see arcade versions of games we already have, unless they're radically different/better, nor do I like spending my hard earned money on the same game twice. Nintendo would be better off directing their efforts to bring us games we don't have on VC yet, like say the arcade versions of the Mortal Kombat trilogy!
It is better. The control is better (I never could get enemy "juggling" to work in the MD version), the animations are better and the sound is better. The port is decent, but it's not the arcade game, full stop.

Well, yeah, it's better as most arcade versions usually are, but not enough to warrant me spending a bunch more Wii points to get the same game again. Like I said, there's tons of great arcade games that aren't already available in ported form. We don't need Sega recycling the same games to us, which they've unfortunately already started doing(space harrier, altered beast).

Well, sadly that's what they did. But think positive, the next title after Golden Axe from them will be Shinobi! I just hope the one after that is Pulsar or Star Trek (hah!).
