What's with the people saying FPSes are better on the PS360? They're (mostly) workable but nowhere close to ideal. I played Halo 3, it played like arse. Analog sticks are vastly inferior to the Wiimote pointer when it comes to aiming.
WiiWare games are good for doing things differently from the regular way which is Nintendo's mission statement for the service: An outlet for creativity and experimentation (not restricted to indies). Hudson making an FPS was experimentation because Japanese devs almost never make good ones (and because arcadey score systems aren't exactly common in FPSes). Making a family friendly FPS is another experiment because FPSes have traditionally been fairly violent. I think other WiiWare FPSes would similarily have some experimental qualities because that's the point of the service, making games that would be too risky at retail and gathering experience for making retail games that succeed. By learning how to use the Wii controls and such properly on WiiWare the companies can avoid making beginner mistakes on expensive and valuable retail releases.
BTW, to whoever called Water Warfare online-only, it has splitscreen multiplayer too (2 players) that can be combined with online (so you and your buddy can go online together) and it has bot support and apparently a set of 38 missions for singleplayer play.

We can't help you with your insecurity, only list (likely) good games.

Word, and I don't get all the fussin' and feudin' on the site here fellas; looks like we're being friendly enough which warms my heart.
Thanks for the Water Warfare info KDR_11k I may check it out when it comes to Europa.
More FPS exclusives on Wii, period. Even though wii has better controls for FPS, there isnt a whole lot of good ones.
Second that and a third, this is the bottom line right here man. More FPS' period...with splitscreen multiplayer wud make it better.
For Wiiware, if onslaught had splitscreen instead of the online, i think it may have done better. @WhoKnew, u may not believe me but james bond quantum of solace, outside of it's single player, is a fantastic fps imo. 10 classes to pick in multiplayer, you can go into 3rd person cover where u can fire from and no framerate drops in local or online. (its also the only wii fps to feature both multiplayers) This is as close to splitscreen deathmatch action you're going to get guys.
I personally think along with FPS games, i would actually really like to see a TPS game on wii that can be our own rival for gears of war or something. Bwii2 doesn't really appeal to me since it's not splitscreen, but I really do like TPS as much or almost as much as FPS, and TPS' on wii are non-existant vs FPS' which do exist but aren't great.

Not everyone prefers aiming a Wii remote.
Controls are a matter of preference and I don't play mediocre FPS games on the Wii over Half Life and Modern Warfare on my PS3 because of "teh awesomeness" of IR.
Besides controls, AI, graphics, and everything else is much, much better on the other consoles. For some reason people believe the power of those consoles is used for graphics.
I hear all the time "Oh a Wii version of that game would be nice, just the graphics would be slightly toned down". No, many things have to be toned down. Wii games are stripped of a lot of technical features.
To many people, including myself, FPS games are a whole lot better on the PS3 and 360. I'll take Modern Warfare, The Orange Box, and Killzone 2 over The Conduit any day.
Quake on Wii Homebrew is incredible, excellently implemented Wii remote / nunchuck controls, and a perfect, smoothly runnin', nice lookin' port. But I wouldn't recommend you pass to the dark side for just that one app -- homebrew is a dangerous warranty-less brick-prone place.

If you were talking about playing those with keyboard and mouse I could respect it, but dual stick? Do you not have a decent computer?
It's an awkward argument to make fun of something because you're not good at it when many, many other people are. Dual analog works very well. Took some getting used to for me since I was used to Goldeneye 64, but I like it a lot now.
In fact, I know this is odd, but I am not good at keyboard + mouse for shooters. It may be that I just haven't played them enough (I'd be hard pressed to call my computer decent), but it's also that I hate controlling a character with the D-pad. It's so limited, and turning with the pointer is awkward (something I hope Water Warfare or Conduit doesn't have a problem with).
Speaking of Water Warfare, someone needs to give us some impressions on that game. It sounds great on paper, but I'm not completely convinced without hearing from a third-party first.

Or maybe I have friends with Playstations? Maybe I don't like playing games on my PC? Yes there is only one possibility here..
And that has absolutely nothing to do with how those games are vastly superior to The Conduit.
Yes, don't make fun of dual-analog due to it being difficult or whatnot -- anyone can get good at it with enough practice -- but do, by all means, lampoon it for being infinitely less enjoyable and immersive than nunchuck + Wii remote

I'm really jealous of your homebrew Quake, by the way. I'd love to give it a shot, but I have spent more on downloadable games than I did on the system itself, so I can't really risk it.
It really works flawlessly (they even have the gun rotate and move according to your remote, meaning you can shoot sideways gangsta-style if you feel like it), which brings up the question: why on earth don't they put together any compilations of classic FPS games for the Wii? I'm sure it would sell quite nicely if they ported everything as well as the homebrewers have managed to do. As with all things I've emulated or played via homebrew, I'd gladly pay up if they'd release a legitimate version.

when I played quake homebrew it felt kinda finicky. I actually wasn't sure how well fps would work on wii til I downloaded onslaught. I installed homebrew channel with everything else on sd. I see there is all this other stuff (custom IOS and such) out there but I wouldn't touch that
Perhaps you played an earlier build? I didn't download it until about a week ago, so I've only tried the latest build, but I believe that two different porting projects by different coders were merged in the last few months to create the latest builds. If you use the Homebrew Browser to download it, you can be sure to get the latest version.
Finicky might mean (just guessing) that it was too sensitive; I did have to turn off the run-by-default, so that I'm now required to hold the run button to run instead of it always running, which was so fast it was hard to control. I also had to get accustomed to the sensitivity of the aiming a bit, as it only takes a slight movement of your remote to cover the whole screen, but I believe you can also adjust that if you don't like it. The controls are wonderfully precise and responsive, though, with zero lag, great framerate, all visuals looking perfect, etc.

Are you sure about that? The official website says it's for up to 8 online and 2 offline, but it doesnt mention if you can go online with another person locally.
Also, does anyone know if local Multiplayer allows for bots? Otherwise it will be rather boring with just you and one other person...
Oh, only two players offline? Dang. I had assumed it'd be four. Not sure how I missed that. Hmm... Might still get it, but that does make it significantly less interesting.

I think its 4 as well, i never heard 2. 4 makes sense because its a FAMILY title right...familys are more than 2 people in most cases if you count the parents which already are 2
I just checked IGN and a couple other sites that had hands-on coverage, and they all say 2. That's a bit disappointing, but it was already too good to be true for a WiiWare game. I'd rather see 4P splitscreen than online, but at least you can have AI opponents to round things out.
I don't see myself needing more than one FPS, but now I'm not sure which to get. Each has some major shortcomings. No offline for Conduit (and possibly laggy online). No 4P offline for Water Warfare. Guess I'll just get something on PS3.
