I find them about the same overall. I'm anxious to try out the Hard mode to see just how intense it really is.

Plain old gamer :)

Does 10 actually flow, or is it a poorly paced death-trap-athon that 9 likes to be?

It has less evil death traps, but seems somewhat harder overall.
I'd say MM9 was the better game, though.

MM10, beaten, normal mode, no e-tanks, 04:10:46 total time (took a while to figure out an order for those robot masters)

Holy crap, people have already beaten the game in 31 minutes....it just came out. My 4+ hour completion time looks bad in comparison.

I've only had time to log 16 mins and complete two bosses, but I'd say it seems good so far. The music isn't blowing me away like MM9's did, but I'll reserve judgment for now.

/edit
Just had a chance to play more on lunch break. Solar & Strike Man's stages both handed it to me. The mid-stage boss of Strike Man had me puzzled for a bit.

I'll be playing the game later tonight. I've heard all of the music on Youtube and it's just as brilliant as MM9's if you ask me. I LOVE Solar Man's insane Heat Man-inspired trippy rock track and Nitro man's is just flat out classic. Chill, Pump, Sheep and strike are fantastic as well. While personally i feel Blade's and Commando's(while catchy) are just alright,
I wasn't too thrilled with Wily's stages 1-5...Although 1 has a wicked beat. But it's clear in my eyes that MM9 had the better Wily tracks..they were all amazing. That aside MM10's Intro, Title Screen, Lab, Weapon powerup and Boss select have fantastic tunes...Yet the Boss theme itself is pretty weak if you ask me.

Anyways, looking forward to tonight! time to celebrate baby

In regards to the music, Pump Man has the coolest track IMO. The second track for the first Wily stage sounds exactly like the song "The Air That I Breathe" by All That Remains. Mega Man 9 had an almost flawless soundtrack so MM10 is a little lacking, but not much. Strike Man's tune I didn't really care for because it tried too hard to play on the whole baseball theme. I hope there is an endless attack DLC because I really enjoyed that about MM9. 9 and 10 are so different.

Well, I just finished beating Mega Man 10.
MM9 > MM10, that's it for now

Solar man's track was amazing, and I do love Pump man's as well. I didn't really care for Blade man's music(or his level) though and most of the Wily stages. MM9 clearly had the better soundtrack, it's also the better game if you ask me. It's put together much better than MM10 and is clearly more thought out and makes you put your Boss weapons to use in the later Dr.Wily's stages. That's another thing MM9 had the advantage over...the boss weapons, which were more unique and they added alot to the experience compared to MM10's. Another thing that was dissapointing about MM10 were the Wily Stages....They were kind of lack luster and nowhere near as fun as MM9's or as hard....hell they even re-used some of the sub bosses. MM9 overall was the more cheeriy, colorful, fantastic sounding and more clever MM. it's a 10 in my eyes, while MM9 is an 8.5

Donatello, I agree with Blade Man being pretty lame all around. I didn't like how MM9 used music directly from MM2, but I understand the reasoning. I liked the remixed weapon "get" music from 4. If it's not remixed, it's really similar. I don't know if you've had a chance to play through easy mode yet, but the challenges actually force you to play it and some of my wussy friends who say Mega Man is too hard actually might enjoy the series now, so I like what MM10 did to draw a broader audience. It's really watered down to people like us, but it's kinda nice to see things in a relaxed state. I would be shocked if Capcom didn't make a MM11 eighteen months from now.

Nah, I actually haven't tried out Easy mode yet....such nonsense now hehe. But ya, I'm going to be giving it a go to tomorrow to see what it's like. It's a great move like you said by Capcom because it's bringing in new gamers that couldn't handle the typical Mega Man beating ;p But yikes....I did try Hard mode and holy crap. The only Boss I managed to get to was sheep man and that stage kicked my ass several times. Sheep man himself was ridiculously hard. His thunder clouds shot out thunder 3x faster making it almost impossible to dodge and i was toast withen seconds. I think I'll hold off on Hardmode for now Because right now I'm trying to beat the game with Proto man. That alone is harder than doing it with Mega Man since Proto man takes more damage, but you get the slide and powershot so that's great for the fans of the later MM games 3-8.

And really though like I said before, out of all the 8 Robot master stages I just can't stand Blade Man's....Besides the Mini-Boss,there's nothing fun about it and i found it totaly annoying. The music is the weakest out of the 8 as well if you ask me. yet Blade man was a tough fight at first but once you nail the pattern(like every other boss) he's not too bad with the Pea Shooter. As for MM9 reusing MM2's Weapon and Menu theme, I thaught it was cool. nostalgiac and a nice throw back of Ifune's favorite Mega Man game 'MM2' which he was trying to imitate and overall did a fantastic job. but ya, Since MM9 was being braught back 8-bit style it was forgiving since it all felt new. As for MM10's Weapon theme, i think it's fantastic. I'm not so sure about the Boss theme though, I guess it's decent but not as menacing, evil sounding or memorable as MM9's was.

And that Wily Music....i dont know, A couple are solid, but they just dont have the same catchyness and impact that MM9's did. And Wily's levels themselves were again a letdown. There was clearly much more thaught and unique stuff going on in MM9's. As it stands for me MM10 is my third favorite MM game. 2,9, and 10 are now the cream of the crop, for me anyways I still have a soft spot for MM4 which i felt in ways was better than even MM3. And you gotta love the original, for me it reaks of nostalgia. Anyways, I still have to finish MM10 with Proto Man, try out the Achievments, easy mode, check out the DLC and get the 3rd Playable character which i accidently saw in the other MM thread, damn spoilers.lol can't wait to try him out!

And yes, bring on MM11!

I still have not finished MM9, but from what I hear MM10 is just as tough, if not tougher than MM9.

So far I find Mega Man 10 harder, but I have not made it to Wiley's Castle yet. The Jewel Shield was more effective in MM9 than the Pump shield is in MM10 in my opinion. Of course that may be intentional on the part of Inticreates to up the difficulty.

So far Solar Man, Strike Man, Commando Man, and Pump man all have very difficult stages. You need lots of practice but the good thing is the more you die you can stock up on bolts for more E-Tanks.

MM10 is tougher regarding the 8 Robot masters and their levels, yet MM9 has the much more challenging Wily levels and Wily Bosses. It's funny, MM9 overall took me longer to finish because of Wily's Castle. It's pretty cool how Capcom did sprites for Slash and Frost man in Wily's Stage 1 for MM10. You don't actually get to see them in their true form when you fight them, instead they're Robotic Cubes
Napahlm and Flame were totaly annoying.

hah, I never onced use the shop because it makes the experience far too easy, just like in MM9. It's much more challenging and fun if you play the game without the shop if you ask me.

I like Mega Man 10 more. but both Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 are the best in the series. I have beaten MM10 in normal mode as Mega Man, now I'm replaying the game as Proto Man.

Y'know, I'm starting to think MM9 was a little more harder, when I first played MM10, I wasn't so great at it (simply because I haven't played a Mega Man game in a while before I got MM10). And now, I've only got 3 more Robot Masters to beat in MM10.

MM9 took me about a month to beat, while MM10, I'm gettin' there.

Same here.
And it's pretty tough to take out some of the bosses with Proto man by just using the Pea Shooter. I can do it no problem with Sheep and Pump man...But as for the rest, not so much. But that's where Boss Weapons come in handy hehe.
Once I finish it with Proto man I may even try Hard mode...But the Bosses are ridiculously and insanely difficult on that setting. But again, if you have a the right Boss weapon, it shouldn't be too hard. It's the stages along on Hard mode that will totatly kick your ass.

MM2, MM9 and MM10 are the greatest MM games hands down

Megaman 10 kicks my butt and no bosses beaten so far its just to hardcore for me lol __ still havent beaten the rest of the willy stages in megaman 9 but boy i sure remember how much hard time it gave me when i first started playing that one took me replaying the same levels again just till i finally figured out the movement patterns.

im almost tempted to try easy mode for the first time ever in a megaman game for me

i havent even gotta through all the bosses yet in 10, but i didnt beat 9 either (got to the third or fourth final boss though).

i gotta go with 9. the stages are funner, more intriguing, the bosses are harder (i picked up blade mans [mm10] pattern in 3 repetitions) and their lineage was harder to decipher. 10 feels like a runner up in every category. not a bad game, but not better.

EDIT: also, in all the stages ive played in 10, i think ive only come up against 2 mid-level bosses. weak sauce.
