Topic: Where have all the games gone...?

I buy all my games online nowadays and would recommend it to anyone who has the means to do so, the only experience I have of what you describe is when I check out the multimedia section whilst shopping at my local ASDA (Americans read Wal-mart), 90% of the Wii shelf space is full of shovelware.

The way I see it all entertainment needs are shifting to the Internet now, music (itunes etc), TV (iplayer, hulu), and gaming is making the move also, there's already plenty of downloadable games on the Internet and also plenty of places to buy disc games.

Get with the times people, soon high street stores like GAME and HMV will be extinct and I for one will not miss them. Just make sure you buy from a reputable site such as Play.com or Amazon and you will usually get your game cheaper, sooner (if pre-ordering), and with less hassle and more choice.

play.com and Amazon are okay, but I would like to highlight that play.com are based in the Channel Islands and I've had stuff take far longer than ordering from a domestic source like GAME, Gameseek or The Hut due to customs delays (a colleague at work had their PS3 ordered from play.com not turn up at all -- they required a signed form be posted before they'd do a refund). Amazon also tends to have 3rd parties do the posting of games and DVDs despite the site showing Amazon as the source; sometimes they can be based in the Channel Islands as well.
