Media Player channel to watch videos and listen to mp3s from SD Card. That was the best thing when I tried homebrew. (I deleted all the homebrew stuff with the official update)
True, as I've heard it can be done by HBC, but I don't see how practical this is, since the DVD player penetration rate is so high. Also, I've heard that DVD-playing (which requires constant reading as opposed to games which often only read when loading new areas) can burn out the reading laser rather quickly on game systems (the PS2 being a great example of that.)

Don't you guys have DVD players already, get with it.
I honestly can't think of any channel I want, don't waste your time on them Nintendo, just give us more original WiiWare games, at least you can charge us for those.
DVD Player Mii Channel Update (I really want a decent red hair and green skin options)
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
I want a MultiMedia channel. It could play music, video, podcasts, DVD, and other stuff, like streaming music and video. That was something I thought would have come standard with todays' systems.
There's something called the Homebrew Channel and is surprisingly easy to install. You can download multimedia players applications for that and even play DVDs using your Wii if that's what takes your fancy. Hell, there's even some very nice games available for free for it too.

I'd rather Nintendo avoid the cesspit of mediocrity in favour of making good disc based games. WiiWare is without doubt the most disappointing service I've ever know and they've sacrificed a perfectly good one in favour of it (Virtual Console)
I'd much rather spend £30 - £40 on disc based media than £3.50 - £10.50 on a game that struggles to compete with even the most average game on the VC at the same or less money.

Sooo basically the Photo Channel. If you were one of the lucky wii owners that had the earlier model it still supported MP3's and even if you upgraded it you still have the opportunity to downgrade it back to MP3 compatible. Also it is video compatible with the option of using the tools and filters that you can use on the photos such as playing a jigsaw with a video file (which is hard), playing it all backwards, doodle etc.

WiiWare is without doubt the most disappointing service
Despite Nintendo's unforgivable absence on WiiWare (besides Art Style & Excitebike), I think it's a good service with quite a few quality games. As with what is available on the store shelves, you just have to avoid the dross and stick to the good'ns (using NL and others to check carefully before purchases). Don't write the service off just because it didn't meet your needs/expectations, some of us are really quite happy with it.

As Raptor78 has stated the Photo Channel already does both, so long as you are willing to convert your video/music files into a format the Wii likes (which is pretty easy).
You can already access the Wii optimized Youtube XL through the browser. With 95% of Youtube's content being absolute 5h1t3, I doubt Nintendo would go anywhere near it.
