Topic: What game should be revived next for wiiware

What with Megaman and New Adventure Island getting all new releases, and I'm sure I read Sega are considering bringing back Alex Kidd, what old game should be next for wiiware, I think Streets of Rage would make a great release, the genre seems to have died out years ago but a new download-able version would be great news to its fans, same with Golden Axe, 2D Sonic in an all new wiiware title would be great too, Sonic was always better in 2D anyway, Ristar 2 or an Eternal Champions game would all be things I would love to download, and something not from Sega now that would have to be both Zelda and Neutopia, brand new wiiware versions of those would be very welcome, so what would your dream list look like.

Dazza

SEGA should definitely be the next to jump on the WiiWare remake bandwagon. Of course a new 2D Sonic game would be great, but Shinobi, Streets of Rage or Alex Kidd would do nicely too.

Following our interview with Takahashi Meijin I am looking forward to the Bonk Wiimake. I am sure that won't be too much longer once Adventure Island comes out.

Yes I agree with Dazza- a 2D Sonic game would be incredible. Actually, 2.5D would be great as well. Either one would work for me. Also, Kid Icarus would make a great WiiWare game!

E.V.O. - The Second Search For Eden... It's not like that license is going anywhere otherwise. Come on, "Squaitonixdos", you know you wanna do it... And as an extra easter egg, you'll be able to evolve into Bub!

And of course MegaMan X9... But we all know that's coming already... Right? Right?!

Actually, I'm fine with the 2D Sonic games there are already. I mean, there's the Genesis trilogy + S&K, there's Sonic CD, we have Chaotix and the three Sonic Advance games. Atleast to me that's plenty...

Yeah, you've got a point. I suppose I'd rather see Sonic CD come to VC than a whole new Sonic game. Good call. But Kid Icarus! There's only one of those, and it needs a remake really bad!!

As a Sega fan with all Sega consoles except the Nomad, there can never be too much 2D or 2.5D Sonic, the DS versions where pretty decent, also Shinobi would be great especially if it was like Shinobi 3, which to me was the series high point I think most people preferred Revenge which was also great but I liked 3 more, I'd like a real RPG on wiiware we have My Life as a King, but I would like something more hands own, either from the Chrono series or Grandia series, their battle systems would make up for less of a story through file size limits, also Road Rash and the Strike series I think would make great wiiware titles, would make great VC titles too.

A new Super Pang (Buster Bros.) would be awesome _
Taito should develop a new Bust a Move and not only Retailgames. I think many gamers will buy it.

Nice! Now here's a thread I can get down with.

For graphical updates (like Adventure Island):
Space Harrier is a definite candidate. A modern approach to the classic 'scaling effect' could create a much more frantic feeling than the 80's could provide. It would be nice to keep the background of flying colors and update the character models and trees and whatnot, to create a stylized retro meets modern feel. Maybe add weapon upgrades that you pick up while flying around. I would buy that, no doubt.

For a new retro installment (like Mega Man 9):
I think Nintendo should hop on this bandwagon. They've done a great job of keeping their classic franchises fresh and relevant, but, having got my first NES in 1990, I LONG for an 8 or 16 bit Mario or Zelda. That's a little ambitious, tho.

More realistically, we'll probably see games that didn't translate well into the 3D console generations, like Mega Man, or, err, Gradius, for example. That considered, there's lots of classic sidescrollers to nominate, like Donkey Kong Country, Earthworm Jim, Contra, Castlevania. I'd happily spend money on any of those.

2D Metroid. As graphically enhanced as possible. But not 2.5D, I don't think it would work as well as 2D does.
However series like Mario and Sonic should stick to 8-bit/16-bit looking sprites, since that's what they're good at.
Pong should stay in 1 bit. =D

All 4 of those series' deserve a WiiWare entry.

Kid Icarus already! Where is it?!!

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matt. 1:21.

Adam

It'd be easy to say Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kid Icarus, but it's also easy to expect none of these will ever happen.

Not that any of these are much more likely, but:
Neutopia -- It needs a new entry more than Zelda anyway.
Marble Madness -- A remake with one or two new levels and optional tilt controls would be perfect, new graphics or retro would be fine
Mega Man X -- The first two were so good, and we know Capcom still has the magic, so why not? As awesome as MM9 was, we wouldn't be Nintendo fans if we were ever satisfied.

Space harrier and Pang seem like good ideas, ideal downloads, as are a few other titles like After Burner, Fantasy Zone and Outrun, old style arcade games could get a new lease of life on wiiware, I wouldn't mind a new Cosmic Spacehead game either.

A Kirby platformer should be well within WiiWare capabilities.

how bout a duck hunt game

Duck Hunt already sort of got "revived" (or perhaps it would be better to say "cameoed") in Wii Play's target shooting game. Of course, most of the games on that collection were pretty good, and if expanded, could make good WiiWare games, though I doubt Nintendo would do that. The tank game especially was cool.

Maybe Chu Chu Rocket would make a decent wiiware titles, the controls look as if they would suit the wiimote fine, also a short Panzer Dragoon game if it was cheap enough maybe 800 points would be ideal, I would also like some sort of manager type game, maybe a WWE manager game from Yukes, I wonder if they could make a Power Stone game within the limits of a wiiware title?, wishful thinking on the last one most probably.

Wiiloveit

I agree with the Duck Hunt idea, but I'd love to see new versions of Street Fighter II or Chew Man Fu. Maybe a remake of one of the older, "good" Crash Bandicoot games (not likely) ?

Wiiloveit

Bass_X0

even more new versions of Street Fighter II?

Unfortunately Capcom aren't interested in porting HD Remix to WiiWare.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
