they could lose the console wars with this decision
I just have a feeling they will cut, but not now because people will say it's just a trend to drop costs all of a sudden. I mean look at Sony and Microsoft (Sony with the PS3 Slim {and Fatass - LOL}, and Microsoft with the Xbox 360 Elite) The seventh generation's span is almost up but it doesn't look like a new (home) console won't be shown from anyone 'til like 2010 (or 2011, for that fact).

Sony has a really packed-in system for just $50 more then the Wii and I will be getting it. Nintendo has got to do something if they want to keep the Wii in the lead.

I made the thread to see how people would react if there was ever a price drop or not. Anyways, most don't care if they was a price cut and for both The Cow and mrmicawber, good luck with the bet!
Um, Nintendo is able to monitor the sales of their products and act accordingly. I'm sure they're not sitting in their ivory towers too busy playing in gold-bullion-filled swimming pools to notice what's happening on the street.

It won't be necessary because Wii sales are about the same as 360 and PS3 sales despite their price cuts. The Wii has been going on very strong despite the fact that the price has remained the same.
I don't think it is necessary at all. If the Big N is winning, why would they want to use a losing strategy to get more sales. They would probably release more colors before a price cut.
I think it's really cool that Nintendo doesn't need to price cut. That shows the position their end. For those that say they'll fail any sort of "war," I encourage you to look at the Wii's true (expanded) audience and you should see that it is very unnecessary as playability wins out over price.
The Wii isn't much of a system in broad terms so that makes it all about quality software and that has been growing steadily.
I'm confident Nintendo will know when to lower the price as right now, the others are lowering their prices just to keep up.
