super mario64, donkey kong country snes, super metroid smetroid is way great...perfect music. donkeykc is better by far than the wii game. super m64 is the best mario game ever made....
I only have 2000 points and am hoping to get Ogre Battle: Person of Lordly Caliberand 2 NES games Does anyone know any good NES games, besides metroid, LoZ, Mario, etc. -I've played those and want some good addicting games that you can play over and over again. Any recomendations? (also is Ogre Battle good?)
@countglasse Ogre Battle is a great game. I've played it for over 60 hours (it has multiple endings), but I'm also a fan of strategy games. Other gamers have found it boring and confusing. -You might want to look into Faxanadu on the NES. It's an action RPG like the Adventures of Link or Simon's Quest--but much better than those two games. There will be times in Faxanadu when you don't know what to do next, and that can be frustrating. So I don't think you could call it addicting, it's more of an epic game. I still think it's the best NES game on the VC.
I'm most likely going to download ActRaiser....Which is going to be a brand new experience for me since I missed out on it. And I'm glad you can selection 'Action Mode' which gets rid of the simulation aspect of the game. Anyways, so how does ActRaiser hold up these days?
It holds up better than the SNES Castlevanias IMO. But you should know, the 'Professional!' Mode will unlock after you beat the game once--that means you won't be able to avoid the town building simulation levels at first.
id suggest Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa, its an import and a worthy platformer when you need to play something different. nice worlds and visuals. i slept on this one for a looong time, but im glad i have it and beat it. google it, it aint cheap

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

I'd suggest Kirby's Adventure and Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse.
Jesus is the only way.
It's OK to have an opinion. This ain't the Soviet Union you know. Letterboxd Youtube Channel
Faxanadu looks fun, how long do you think the game will last me?
It's hard to say. It took me over 10 hours to finish, but I was always backtracking for keys and free elixirs. Some people online are claiming they can speed run Faxanadu in an hour--it might be posible if you had the game memorized and never died (also skip the Tower of Suffer).
@waveboy Ristar is an absolute Genesis classic. I have the PS3 Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection and it is one of the best games created for the Genesis.
I have ActRaiser on my list to download to. I remember renting that game as a kid and I was blown away by the graphics because it was one of the first SNES games I played. I didn't like the simulation part of the game back then but now I am definitely tempted to revisit it and appreciate it the uniqueness of that game.
To blessed to be stressed.
80's music makes me feel fabulous.
What Would Duane Do? Rynoggery
And what about Dynamite Heady and Ristar for the Genesis? I never played either of those growing up....
I personally liked them more than Gunstar Heroes. They're classics, and I highly suggest you give them a go. However, make sure you set Ristar on hard...otherwise it's a bit too easy.
@Waveboy You are going crazy nuts with the VC lately! My question is how do you have time? If I am not mistaken from reading previous posts I assume that you were but a young lad during the 'golden age of gaming," the SNES and Genesis? Point beeing that I am married and I dont have a ton of time for video games. The old ball-n-chain (ha! I say that in jest of course) doesn't share in my favorite pastime of playing video games so its take me awhile to get to all these classics. So that is why I was just curious if you were married or not and how you find the time. Due to your praise of Startropics I will add that to my download list during the three weeks my wife is away at school. Startropics was always game that tempted my curiosity as a kid after seeing it in Nintendo Power but I never ended up playing. I will definitely right this wrong!

Just beat Super Mario World (SNES) for the first time such a great game.
What took you so long? It is my favorite Mario game. Did you beat the Star World too?
@waveboy Wow, interesting stuff there! I wish you well good sir! I do enjoy your posts and though I am 4 years your senior your appreciation the NES, SNES, and Genesis (and TMNT action figures) nearly matches my own (Mickeymac, oldgamesonly, and Tasuki also come to mind) Actually you may even surpass me in that regards because I do not currently own a NES (gasp) though lately I have this unshakeable urge to!
I am going to search for my StarTropics Nintendo Power tonight and then when I get some time in the next month I am going to use it old school with StarTropics on the VC. No way would I have thought 22 years later I would be using it! Just awesome
I got stuck halfway through. It's cheap in that you can't see most stuff coming. Take the instant death rooms or the split paths, one of which usually leads to instant death. Or the dark rooms. These aren't frequent, but they are annoying.
I'm TOTALY recommending StarTropics. One of the greatest NES games that I completely missed out on up until now. For shame! Zelda and Zelda II for the Nes simply can't compare with this one. I can't get enough of this game, let alone I'm only 3 hours in and almost finished the 3rd chapter....But when all said and done, my mondo mega mind has officially been blown away by this Nes Classic.
The items and weapons in this game are fabulous. As seen here, when you get 'The Mirror' it alows you to deflet those wizards projectiles, but you have to time it prefectly. Personally, I've always had and thing with deflecting enemy bullets and the like, it feels super satisfying and amps up the skill.
Anyways, I haven't experienced anything like really like StarTropics, with the whole jumping on tiles mechanic to unlock buttons and doors, ect ect. It's incredibly fun, super challenging and highly addictive. This is the perfect example of what i loved about the NES era. I didn't expect to love the game as much going into it, but wow I'm a StarTropics believer haha
StarTropics > Zelda and Zelda II. No contest.
yes yes yes!

I never owned a SNES. I beat all of the Star World but I need one more secret exit.
