For the few that are saying Samurai Shodown is too hard: you're right, it also doesn't play like SF or other beat-em-ups of that era really, rather than going for combos or rapid hits you need short, hard, hit-n-run tactics: get in, get a few hits in, get the hell out again before the unfair SNK AI minces you.

For those disappointed with Gunstar, it's not as good as Gunstar Future Heroes on the GBA, until those games get emulated on the Wii you're fresh outta luck.

Wii: 4514-5118-1071-5443 Brawl: 4297-1227-3240
Now Playing: LoZ:OoT (GC), World of Goo, Star Parodier, Little King's Story
Wanting: Metal Slug Anthology, Samurai Shodown Anthology, The Conduit, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Klonoa
Anticipating: No More Heroes 2, Tales of Symphonia 2

tecmo bowl, golden axe, the driving game for N64 (cruisin'?) and one of the fighting games (street fighter 2, i think). the original donkey kong was pretty lame, aswell. i had found memories of these games as a kid but they haven't aged well. oh, and getting suckered into buying 3 versions of space harrier wasn't cool. just release the best version and be done with it.

~Lakitu 64 acknowledges that maybe being able to 'pause/save and quit' out of most VC games,
makes up for anything that may even, or may not have been posted before or after this post.~
.......................................................................................................................at least you or someone else will be able to play those games downloaded.....
.........................................................................................................................on the Nintendo Wii, and you'll maybe get VC Games you really enjoy next-time... ........................................................................................................................................................................................................soon.......................

First VC game I bought, King's Knight. Horrible. Hard to believe it was made by Square, one of my favorite companies!

I also regret buying Kirby's Dreamland 3. It's not horrible, but it's not very fun, either.

LandStalker was horrible, too. Platforming in the game was terrible, and sound effects were primitive. It reminded me of a crappy 8-bit game rather than a crappy 16-bit game.

Secret of Mana is fun, but insanely hard if you don't have a second player. I'm not sure I regret buying it, though.

Lastly, I regret buying River City Ransom. Sure, its unique, but it gets boring and old after awhile. Its the game that I've played the least on my VC. (Only once!!!)

Mario Kart 64... Well, I never played it in on the N64, I started with Mario Kart Wii, DS and Double Dash and this one then just felt like a huge letdown. Especially the cheap sprite graphics, the uber-rubberband AI and some of the never ending, boring tracks (like Raindbow Road, ughhh). Plus, the channel screen on the Wii Menu doesn't look very good, they should have used the alternative title screen, which you get, when you finish the single player. That one looks way better.

Beyond Oasis. Not very fun, it's not bad but there are better games on VC.

@Shortay: I've been curious about the F-Zero series for awhile now, but I'll agree that it looks too arcade-like. F-Zero reminds me of the skimmer from Space Quest and F-Zero GX is way too fast for me.

While I haven't downloaded anything disappointing thus far, I probably won't get Metroid anytime soon. It's not as impressive as one would think. I'll stick to my vulpine friend.

While I enjoy Donkey Kong and all, I can't help but notice how short the game is. Three levels, save Pauline, repeat. I'm getting the arcade version if it ever comes out.

Every game that has a title that doesn't include these words, Mario, Zelda, Link, Star Fox, Kirby.

I downloaded Ecco: the tides of time to prove that I was better than my wife at any video game, even ones that i've never played. Hoo...a waste of points AND it's destroyed my reputation in the household.

There are plenty of VC games that I thought were way overrated like Kirby's Adventure and some were even more than a little disappointing like Pit Stop 2, but only a handful of titles did I erase almost instantly:

1. Romance of the Three Kingdoms 4
2. Moto-Roader
3. Battle Load Runner

EXPERIENCE MORE.... Arcade-quality graphics, awesome sound, "turbo-charged" game play, exciting TurboChip games... It's the incredible Turbo Genesis 64 Entertainment SuperSystem Experience. There's more fun, more challenge, and more excitment ready for you today!

Man, Silent Debuggers for the Turbograpfx sucks so much. It is a stain upon my beautiful collection. That and Bravoman. Bravoman is pretty terrible too. And yeah, Magician Lord sucks but if you ever think about getting Neo-Geo games allow me to recommend the Wii disc release: SNK Arcade Classics Vol.1. i paid 15 bucks and got 16 games way better than the 8 bucks or what ever they charge for Neo Geo games on the VC. That way you can get such classics as Last Resort, World Heros, Metal Slug, KOF 94 along with Magician Lord. Just wish it had Ninja Commando, now there's a neo geo game that is worth the money!

...Hm. It's so interesting reading the replies in this topic, it just goes to show you how a game that can be loved by many can be hated by just as many.

Really I've bought like.. 20ish Virtual Console games... and I've only truly regretted one. o_o;

-SimCity (SNES) - Downloaded it so my best friend could play it when he came over a few times back when I first got my Wii. The novelty is fun however.. I just got bored with it after a while. While I did have some fun I kinda wish I would have spent the 800 points on something else.

I did however, regret buying another VC game at first and then grew to enjoy it..

-Star Fox 64 - At first when I realized you don't save I was kind of upset, until I realized that it's more an arcade style game than anything. So I found time to actually try the game and reach other missions and found out I enjoy it. I haven't touched the game for a while though (had to do fridge storage until I found an SD card for my wii.) so I may replay it soon.

Pitstop II is not very much fun, Volleyball is a mess with the controls and Motoroader is just poorly designed game

Definately TMNT because i had fond memories of playing this game with my friends when we were kids so we didn't care much for quality of the game. When I replay this game nearly 20 yrs later with the Wii I thought to myself "Man, this game is terrible!" TMNT games should always be like Turtles in Time or Manhattan Project. Why oh why did Konami send us inferior TMNT game rather than the good ones.

Wow, a lot of people are underwhelmed with Mario Kart 64 which is shocking to me. I think it's hands down the best in the series, the Gamecube and Wii iterations are boring to me, they seem flat, and WAY easier to control without so much nitpicking on the player's part (which maybe is a plus to some people?) although I did enjoy the drift/accelerate mechanic that was added. But, hey, I can understand being used to newer versions, for example I can't stand the SNES original.
