How the hell does this guy make a living?

He puts way more money my way than I do his.

He´s a loanshark. Plus, he sells all your apples and fish on Ebay.

B-b-but. Me need apple and fish to eat.

He buys your items for a 1/4 of what they`re actually worth. So he initially is making the better deal.

It is better not to question Tom Nook's business practices. Ask too many questions, and he may have to...take care of things.

I wouldn't discuss such trade secrets.... There are many sharks out there trying to get a nibble out of his profits.....

Simply enough, his prices and mortgage rates are enough to keep him swimming in bells.

I'll give you the short reason:
Tom Nook is the Gamestop of Animal Crossing. It's a good thing Animal Crossing has a good economy.

Tom Nook is actually Evil. Its hard to see at first but there are subtle clues throughout the game that hint to his diabolical ways.
