Topic: Third party published N64 games now a possibility?

I wouldn't count on seeing too many 3rd party N64 games until Nintendo implements Controller Pak support for the VC, if they opt to. There weren't too many 3rd party games with on-cart saving, particularly from those companies that are actively supporting the VC. Here's a realistic potential list, only taking into account games from companies that are currently supporting the VC:

Bomberman 64
Bomberman 64: The Second Attack
Bomberman Hero
Chameleon Twist
Cruis'n Exotica (co-published by Nintendo)
Cruis'n World (co-published by Nintendo)
Earthworm Jim 3D
Harvest Moon 64
Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine
Megaman 64
Mischief Makers
Ogre Battle 64
Resident Evil 2 (over the 40 MB size limit if not compressed)
Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth
Star Wars Episode 1: Battle for Naboo
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire

I only care about Space Station Silicon Valley, Rare Titles (which will never happen unless it's DK,) and the Star Wars: Rogue Squadren games.

I'll say something once the game gets released on the North American Virtual Console. I really can't say that North Americans should get excited yet.

However, it would be really nice if we could see some 3rd party Nintendo 64 support. I love the Nintendo 64 with a passion.

What with Ogre Battle 64 being published by Square Enix, the first N64 game on the VC not to be published by Nintendo (although there have been a few third party developed N64 games released), maybe this will finally allow other publishers getting their N64 games on the VC. Or maybe not.

Well that was insightful

Just kidding, I really do hope 3rd parties start supporting the N64 VC--there must be a ton of red tape for them to get through, otherwise it seems like a no-brainer.

Mischief Makers and Donkey Kong 64 were two games that I only rented and never owned. Would love another crack at them.

@Terra - You are the first person I've ever heard mention Hybrid Heaven on these forms. I could NOT stop playing that game, it was awesome!

Boom.

But Star Soldier wouldn't be the Japanese version.
(might have been just me, but I remember playing ROMs to sample the game, and the Japanese version seemed to be more generous with the power-ups.
And as we all know, more power-ups = more firepower = more stuff exploding = more fun. )

The 2 Quake games and Doom 64 would be great to have

Yeah. There's lots of games that could and should happen.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Finally, we get 3rd party support on the Virtual Console for the Nintendo 64. Here's to hoping more comes.

Bomberman 64 was a solid platformer. it was no bomberman game, but it was good on its own. i don't remember who made it, but i'd be interested in seeing Glover, too. i had friends who liked the game, but i never had a chance to play it...

@bro2dragons: Glover was made by Hasbro Interactive. I'm not really sure who owns the rights to it now. I'd really like to be able to play it again...

That's a good list! I'd add the Bomberman games, and then it'd be perfect.

TwilightV

Another you can add to the list is Flying Dragon from Natsume (of Harvest Moon fame).

@ TwilightV
Oh yeah, that's fun! I'd also like to add Mace: The Dark Age, War Gods, and Bio F.R.E.A.K.S.! I love those games.

TwilightV

If they can fix the controller pack issue, then i'd really like to see Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage and Quest 64.
