A feature on the Virtual Console in NGamer magazine #40 regarding games that got overlooked when they were originally released and again on the Virtual Console.
1: Devil's Crush (Turbografx) 2. Paradroid (C64) 3. Psychosis (Turbografx) 4. Blades of Steel (NES) 5. Nebulus (C64) 6. Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa (NES) 7. Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy (NeoGeo) 8. Pac-Attack (SNES) 9. Devil World (NES) 10. DoReMi Fantasy (SNES) 11, Landstalker (Mega Drive) 12. Boulderdash (C64) 13. Galaga '90 (Turbografx) 14. Baseball Stars 2 (NeoGeo) 15. Solomon's Key (NES) 16. Star Tropics (NES) 17. Mighty Bomb Jack (NES) 18. Gate of Thunder (TurboGrafx) 19. Blue's Journey (TurboGrafx) 20. Legend of Hero Tonma (TurboGrafx)
There's info about each one and why it should be given attention. The whole feature seems to be to get readers aware of the Virtual Console and to get these lesser known but still enjoyable games the attention they deserve.
So which games do you think are unfairly overlooked on the Virtual Console?
Super Star Soldier Lords of Thunder Pulseman ( never had much of chance since it was only on Sega Channel) Shining in the Darkness Comix Zone Galaga 90 Baseball ( yes I'm serious) Impossible Mission (it deserves a chance)
I'll give them Psychosis (which isn't very good anyway), Top Hunter and Devil World, but Devil's Crush was a pretty damn popular title, Nebulus and Paradroid were pretty well known, Pac-Attack had it's license, at least, probably making it sell decently, and Blades of Steel was a HUGE NES title in it's day. Bokutte Upe and DoReMi weren't even released here in the first place, and I believe they did well enough in Japan. An article claiming Blades of Steel was an overlooked NES game back in it's day should be taken with some truckloads of salt.

There's twenty games listed but I'll only list the top ten so that you have to buy the magazine if you want to read all of it.
Don't really feel like buying a magazine just to point out how wrong they are. Can't you just post it? The names themselves are hardly the selling point.
I don't have any sales data to back this up, but my guess is that most folks overlooked and continue to overlook these gems:
Dynamite Headdy (Gen/MD) Ristar (Gen/MD) Comix Zone (Gen/MD) DoReMi Fantasy (SNES) Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen (SNES) Ninja Spirit (TG16) Super Mario Brothers 3 (NES) - just kidding
Great list. I have never heard of a couple of those games. However i feel some of these games are not reallyTHAT overlooked. like blades of steel? that was totally sucsessful when it came out. And the SNK games Top Hunter and Baseball Stars 2 are well known games ( i've seen Top Hunter in arcades all over Southern California). i feel games like Star Tropics, Bio Miricle and Gates of Thunder have deffinitly gotten some shine as a vc release as far as reviews and forum talk goes. But i would agree with that mag on a solid 60 percent of that list

"Great list, only 40% of it is pure bollocks"? What?
Yeah, this is a horrible list for the most part pulled out of the writer's ass. Really, Gate of Thunder, one of the most defining titles of it's consile? The mega-popular Boulder Dash? Jesus, bloody Metroid deserves being listed over those.
(Top Hunter was popular too, eh? Eh, I was never much of an arcade person as a kid)
whatever adamant, i thought it was great cause it was a cool subject to cover and i was stoked that he posted it for discussion (regardless on if the writer was right).. you dont have to call me out about it....
What a crappy list. I believe that Boulderdash was so popular on the C64, they made an arcade version, not to mention released it on nearly every console at the time.
