It does definitely replace the Grinder... I personally asked HVS, seriously, to announce this game to soften the news for the Grinder so I'm thrilled. If this game is high quality it will sell great.
It's easy to sell a game on the Wii: you have to advertise, heavily, the game itself has to be really good, and it has to appeal to gamers' wishes - mainly, if it's an FPS it has to have an excellent online mode. That's all. it's why Modern Warfare Reflex a two year (!) port on the Wii is selling so well. The Conduit 2 can sell millions if it approaches all these 3 right. People that say that there's no audience on the Wii for stuff have no idea what they're talking about.. The Conduit itself sold hundreds of thousands of copies mainly of whom are die-hard fans of the game and its online mode. Many of those that didn't like the game never played it or just pirated it. The Conduit had bad reviews. Gamers pay attention to that.. if the Conduit 2 surpasses that level it will sell like pancakes.

I'm not sold on the "Theme" of conduit 2 from the sketchy details announced, I was sold on the grinder after seeing the fps preview videos that looked AMAZING.
I liked sci-fi but I find it's difficult to create good creature ideas (See the last Star Wars film of how NOT to do it), whereas the Grinder had a template of mythological creatures to play with.

@robtyketto - no, but it hasn't been confirmed that Wii Grinder still exists. i think chances are that they'll release The Conduit 2 as Wii Exclusive and The Grinder for 360 and PS3.

Now that local multiplayer is comfirmed, I just want better level design (in both story mode and multiplayer) and online play fixed from bugs and hackers, and this will be a must-buy game for me.

Everything in that article looked very impressive and working on this and Grinder simultaneously updating the graphics engine should make for better games.
HVS could become heros of the wii market, I mean to be fair it does look like they listened to the criticism of the first game.

Yeah with all their overly-hyped, average games that anyone else could do, if not better.
Well I did say COULD, I just mean if they deliever TWO highly polished and well reviewed fps games that look to contain unique selling points not found in any other wii fps title then people will be pleased.
It is all speculation, well I'm an optimist and other than Red Steel 2 by Ubisoft no-one else seems overally bothered about creating mature arcade games.

I'll pass. First game was crap. Except for the back-story, that was amazing.
Harsh, but true. However, the main reasons it was crap are fixable. The underlying game engine was good and a few tweaks in the right places could make the game a lot better.
