Is anyone else itching for this game like I am?
I really REALLY wish it would get localized in the west!

You're preaching to the choir. It's the best console Tales game since Tales of the Abyss, yet we don't get it. Instead we get Symphonia Lite and Symphonia: The Pretty version.

I also wish it would get localized but unfourtanetley, it's unlikely because namco don't localize a lot of games in the tales of series. Although there is a fan translation being made for it so we should be able to play it some time in the future.

Rumour is that Nintendo offered to localise it at the same time they were doing Monster Hunter, DQIX and Samurai Warriors but Namco wanted to make the PS3 port instead.

I wish it would get localised.... and whilst we're at it how about the 3DS version of Abyss so I can actually play it?

I hope that tales of the abyss 3ds gets localized too. @mickeymac The ps2 version of Tales of symphonia does look better but it's still one of the best games ever IMO.

At the rate they're going, they'll be done by New Years (which is pretty fast for a fan Translation. A Fan Translation of The PSX version of Tales of Phantasia has been in the works for 10 years now, and it'll still be at least another year before it's done).

I was referring to Tales of Vesperia. I swear every character and even some of the plot events are the same as they were in Symphonia. It was actually pretty irritating - how many years, and they couldn't give us something at least halfway original? Even ToS2 tried harder than that!

Awesome, I wasn't expecting it to be that quick.

Thats surprising. I've seen some great reviews for tales of vesperia and it doesn't look that similar.

I really like Tales of Symphonia, that and Abyss are probably my favorite two out of the current.

I just heard that they think it won't sell well because you know us Westerners and our western RPG favoritism >.>

Perhaps I'm exaggerating, but I'm just saying that the story felt too familiar for my taste. It doesn't help that I felt that the story in Symphonia was complete rubbish, even compared to some of the other Tales games, plus I didn't like the new Gameplay editions. If they ever finally wise up and start localizing the PS3 Tales of games, I hope they release Tales of Graces F instead of ToV.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

@mickeymac WHAT?!? I think tales of symphonia has a great story and it's got some awesome characters too(especially Kratos who is my 2nd fave game character).

I'm sorry, but to me the story just seemed so derivative and generic (the biggest twist, for instance, was ripped right from Final Fantasy X, yet at least in that game you didn't see it coming from miles away). The progression was predictable and formulaic, and the dialogue was utterly painful, not to mention the characters speaking them were uttly generic anime/fantasy RPG stereotypes with little in the way of depth or character evolution.

And to be quite honest, that's what I've come to expect from the Tales series, and I mostly just play them for their gameplay. However, some are better at excecuting the story so that it still comes off as interesting or compelling despite lacking any amount of creativity. Unfortunately, Symphonia was not one of them at least not in my opinion. It was just too predictable to hold my interests, due in part to it blantantly ripping off story elements from other (infinitely better) stories in other games I've played, namely Final Fantasy X. (and not even using those elements as well as the games its deriving them from).

Just anything with "Tales of" slapped onto it please, seriously. D:

The last Tales of game I played was Tales of Eternia, which I loved immensely.

From what I can tell, the series suffers from falling back on generic stories and characters too much. :/ The battle system is what makes them so great, really. Eternia had some great twists in the story and some really memorable characters too, so if you haven't played that I highly recommend it.

Can anyone explain why Tales of Graces is so good? I've barely heard of it so I don't know a thing about it.

The beefed up the combat system and AI so battles are more fun. Most importantly, they've made it so now it's impossible to get away with button mashing, eliminating the single biggest complaint about the series (technically speaking, in most Tales of games you can't get away with button mashing throughout the entire game, but at least in everything from Symphonia on you could make it pretty far without ever really utilizing the myriad of systems in place, and this causes a lot of people to think there's no depth to the gameplay when there really is). This also introduces an extra layer of strategy to the combat without really toning down the fast pace fans love. The series hasn't seen a change this big in a long time.

My main problem was their obsession with forcing the racism theme down your throat at points in the game and the general dissappointment of the 2nd disk.

Hmm, sounds like Graces is a big step up from the previous games. The combat system was great (well, if you didn't just button mash of course) so improvements to that would be really impressive. Now I'm intrigued. D: Namco, I demand a western release!

This.

I'd be happy if Graces got any kind of western release, be it PS3 or Wii. I have every mothership title but this one and it makes me mad.

@mickeymac I've played some of FFX and I prefer Tales of symphonias story and I think it's cast of characters are far better. I guess I shouldn't be surprised if my views on a tales game I get in the future are very different to yours. But which story twosts in TOS did you find similar to twists in FFX. Since I don't have a ps2 or ps3 I haven't played all of FFX.
