1: Apart from the graphics. Is there anything else that differs from the original games?
2: Do you think it will appear at VC?

1. The sound is of a better quality, too.

2. Absolutely no idea.

1: There's a save system, and SMB3 has an added "Battle Game", an enhanced version of the two-player battles you can play by pressing A on the other player on the map screen, which itself was based on te original Mario Bros.
2: No. All the included games are already on the VC, retailing for a total of 2100 points, 2900 with World included, or 2600/3400 if you count Mario Bros as well. Why would Nintendo offer an upgraded version of these games for a tital of 800 points?

How about a "Mario Fanclub" for the Virtual Console - download all four Super Mario Bros. NES games to access the Fanclub where you will be able to download Super Mario All Stars for 800 points?

I also hear that Mario plays slightly differently in Super Mario All Stars - its been said that his running and jumping ability have different timing than he did in the NES games but I haven't really noticed.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Yeah, there's supposedly a few really minor gameplay differences that no one could ever possibly care about.

Since All-Stars isn't coming out anytime soon, I'll probably spend $6 on Lost Levels. Besides, I already have 3/5 of the game on GBA. That and I already still have my original NES/SNES cartridges for all the games.

I wish it did come out, because playing those Mario games in 8-bit doesn't feel the same to me since the first game I ever got was All-Stars along with Super Mario World, I even found the box the SNES and All-Stars got packed with yesterday.

I too have thought about it as Bass X0 with the difference. Get SMB 1-3 get discount or gifted with Lost Levels. Get all NES SMB and get discount on Allstars.

Super Mario Allstars will NEVER appear on the VC. All of the games have already been released on the VC. Releasing them all on one file would defeat the purpose of the originals even being on there. That, and Nintendo would make less money. If it does appear, I reckon it'll appear with the requirements Terranigma stated.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

Saying it'll NEVER appear is a bit pessimistic. I, and I'm sure there are many others, would buy both Allstars and the original games.

I already have all the Mario games but if Allstars was released I'd get that too - I think Allstars is a fantastic package but you don't get the complete retro feel you do with the original releases. I mean you can get three versions of SNES Street Fighter 2 - why release Super when it means no one will then buy the original? I know Allstars is a compilation of more than one game, but they'll release it at a higher price. People wanting to just play a bit of the original Super Mario Bros will just buy the cheaper, authentic, original version, some will spend a bit more to get the enhanced versions in one package whilst others will get both.

Far from being the same thing. Capcom knows it means no one will then buy the original, but since Super and the original are both the same price, they don't lose anything with people going for Super instead, but they DO gain something because those who bought the original might want Super.

All Stars, however, offers 4 games together for 800 that would've normally have cost 2100. The amount of people who spent those 2100 points and would still want to get the 800 upgrade aren't enough to make up for the loss from those who'd just buy the 800 game and not the 2100 games at all. SMB/2/3/LL sales won't die off until after the Wii itself stop selling.

Plus, you know, the games are THE SAME, graphic update aside. The SF2 games had huge gameplay differences.

Aye, lad - I actually pointed that out in my post. The fact is we have multiple versions of one game - even the SNES and Megadrive versions of Turbo which are essentially the same game, the only differences due to personal preference. You see there's a choice and that's a lot about what the Virtual Console is about. You may choose to buy the Megadrive "Special Champion Edition" or the SNES "Turbo" edition - it doesn't make much difference unless you have a nostalgic attachment to one or the other.

In the case of Mario Allstars, some people will have fonder memories of playing the NES games and others of the SNES games. Lets face it, most of the Virtual Console games are there for nostalgia - new players do buy these games too, but more because of a curiosity into a piece of gaming history. If anyone wants that authentic retro feel, which is most people, they'll buy the original Mario Bros. If Mario Allstars is released for the standard 800 points, I still believe more people will buy the original Super Mario Brothers - the updates are all very good but you miss out on a true version of a historic game and I think most people will opt for those, regardless of the cost.

Nintendo will release it when they run out of ideas.

In Super Mario All-Stars, you cannot go to the minus world in Super Mario Bros. like you can in the original version. I don't think you can get Fireballs with small Mario either.

I say if you have all the games released in the original All-Stars, then you can get this for free. If not, it would cost 800 points.

There is no way it will come out on VC. They would have to charge like, 2000 points for it. It would be WiiWare if it came out.

I think I'd rather it come out on VC somehow than it coming out at retail.

Yet I'm still going to buy it regardless.
