It happened to me after I played Metroid Prime Trilogy for the first time as that game required a small update which for some reason included both fo those channels. I deleted them soon after.

I don't suppose you have played a new game or agreed to a game update recently?

I think I got them and two others when I had to update my Wii to play SM All-Stars. My Wii isn't even connected to the Internet, and I really don't see how those are required in order to play All-Stars. It's baffling.

Exactly.

That was probably it. My wife's friend came over a week ago and brought Zumba, and the game required a downloaded update before it would start. That was probably when it happened. Stupid Zumba.

You have to update your Wii to play All-Stars? I wonder what the reason for that would be, it doesn't have any online features or anything.

Currently Playing:
Zelda II: Adventure of Link

Doesn't have anything to do with online features really. It's just so that Wiis without wifi can still get updates. Some updates are useful (like the SD card from a while ago), and a lot of it has to do with preventing piracy.

That said, why it would give you channels that require wifi to be used is beyond me.

@wobee - it's probably to try and get people curious to check out the online features that are on offer...

Most updates aren't for the games themselves. They're usually security updates

Still, why would a security update require me to get 4 channels I can't even use?

Exactly.

That would actually tick me off if Nintendo wasted my precious memory on Everybody Votes Channel without my permission.

You could always, I don't know, delete the channels you don't use.

Also, it has happened to me. Nintendo just probaly wants to let people know that these channels exeist. ( simpler: Nintendo wants to advertise internet functions) although it seemed to tortute me, because wi-fi doesent reach my area.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
