What do you mean? According to Serebii.net, it is a minigame collection (and looks to be a good one). If it's not a minigame collection, what genre do you think it fits in?
Adventure game? I mean, have you even looked at it?

Have you read the information on it at Serebii.net. Although there is a basic storyline and progression path, this is much more like Mario Party than Zelda.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Nope. I do, however, own the game, and couldn't care less what's written on Serebii.net. The one game it reminds me the most of is Banjo-Kazooie, actually (without the platforming, of course. it's not a platformer).

From what I've seen and read it seems to me to be more like the Chocobo Fables DS games - Minigame compilations wrapped up within the context of an adventure game.
Possible. Haven't played that (but hey, remove the platforming from Banjo-Kazooie, and that's pretty much what that game was, too). Unlike what Serebii seems to suggest, you DO spend most of your time in the adventure field searching for and befriending Pokemon, though.
