I think Wii can all agree on one - Wii Play (see what I did there?)

Yes, I know reviewers trashed it, but one look at the sales figures and thats all you need to know.

I hate the word "overrated". It's like people's excuse to hate on games and focus more on the flaws than what makes them amazing. Actually, for me personally, calling something overrated is basically the same as acknowledging the greatness of the game. It's kind of like the phrase "If you're hated, you're doing something right." But with games, it's not like celebrities where people will love them because, say, they're good looking. Games have a number of factors to them that make them successful, mediocre, or crappy. Obviously from what I read, the "overrated" games happen to be mostly successful games that have gotten great reviews from numerous critics (most in which know what they're talking about and looking for).

I actually can't think of a game that I feel is overrated. If I came across a "great" game that I didn't enjoy, doesn't make it overrated, it's just not my personal choice, like let's say Call of Duty. I don't care for the series but doesn't make it overrated.

Goldeneye Wii -- most overrated game ever....
A game that takes 1-2 seconds to realize you just moved the analogue stick to aim,
then moves in blocks of 1cm meaning you overshoot your target.
Which results in a benny hill esque left,right,left,right..... just trying to line up a head in your sights.

Sure I could use the wiimote to aim instead, but FPS & wiimote aiming just don't mix. Or rather result in cramp in your wrist after half an hour

Maybe you just suck? Cause I don't think "bad controls" creates an overrated game.

Also, Mouse + Keyboard will always be better than any console control scheme.

Goldeneye Wii has bad controls? Wow, I guess people don't like pinpoint accuracy. All of my headshots thoroughly disagree with you.

Okami is overrated. The motion controls were clunky, and the presentation was ghastly on both the Wii and PS2. The visuals are just terribly fuzzy

The visuals are not "fuzzy" you are supposed to switch the graphics to "LCD" mode.

I don't have an LCD TV, but I did try switching it. Sadly, it only made things look worse.

Don't be silly. The only thing amazing about flawed games is how some people choose to put them up on a pedestal. "If you're hated, you're doing something right."? Nonsense. What is Ninja Bread Man doing right? Sure there are more factors than graphics and control that make up a game but what's left? Story? Music? Go buy a CD, go read a book, I want a video game.

...in my pants.

I think you missed his point entirely. He's talking about people calling exceptional games overrated, which generally are the games that garner the label "overrated" so very often. It's just people focusing on the flaws that most can easily brush away. For instance, if I called Super Mario Galaxy overrated, and listed my great number of nitpicks about that game, all the reasons I didn't like it, you'd just brush them aside because they don't matter to you. Hell, I'm sure the millions of others who bought and enjoyed it did the same damn thing.

I think That's what he's talking about, since that's the only way I could think of where that statement would make sense, otherwise I'd totally agree with you. Flaws should be recognized, as flaws limit the appeal.

hell, you could'nt die in Wario Land 3 but still is a VERY HARD game

Every time I look at it, I can't stop calling it amazing.

And so what if you can't die? Death is overrated. It's still a hard game to complete.

If Super Smash Bros Brawl was a overrated Wii game, then I should have more Nintendo Victims Unit viewers.

Thank you, of course flaws need to be recognized but only (for me) they really get in the way of enjoying the experience the game was meant to deliver. If it's a nitpicky flaw that, like you said, most others would brush aside because the game does much else to make up for it then who gives?

I look at all these games that people are posting up and they're great games worthy of being considered the best the Wii has the offer.

I just finished the initial storyline of Kirby's Epic Yarn and I had a blast! I did get frustrated a few times (happens when the game get annoying or difficult) but it wasn't meant to be terribly challenging. It's a cute charming game that lived up and exceeded expectations.

It's one of the few platformers where I enjoy replaying stages, I didn't even do that with Super Mario Galaxy 1 or 2 (unless I was trying to beat the stage). I don't even replay stages in Sonic Colors that much. I have much else to unlock but I'm taking a break from it right now. Graphics make the game "look" amazing, but it was obviously considered amazing due to the creative and completely original gameplay style, the charming storyline, and even the cute music that matched the game perfectly.

SSBB is very overrated.

I really like to know why people think SSBB is overrated.

Sure the Subspace Emissary wasn't that great but it was a quick and easy way to unlock majority of the characters. Obviously you can't call it overrated based on that because really? Who plays Smash Brothers for the 1 player mode?

Also if you're basing it off of "Melee owns Brawl" then you're sadly mistaken. Both have an incredible amount of depth and while Brawl may seem simpler, since a lot of the "advanced" movement techniques were removed, Brawl focuses more on how well the player executes the fighter. It can still be fast paced and actually, it gives those who aren't so lightning fast with their fingers a chance, which I think lends itself much better to the general public. All the characters are unique to the point where none of them can be considered a clone (semi-clone yes though), in which Melee had 6 clones so it's not like they mindlessly added in characters for the heck of it.

Link - sluggish, long ranged, large heavy weight
Toon Link - speedy, short ranged, tiny light weight

Apart from their attributes, many of their attacks differ. Toon Link's up smash, f-air, b-air, n-air are all different. Probably the only regular attack that's exactly the same is u-air. Even his special attacks are all different in some way.

Toon Link is a semi-clone of Link, where as Young Link was considered a clone since the differences in attributes weren't that severe, and the major differences in attacks was that Young Link's spin attack hit multiple times and he had a fire arrow. The rest of their attacks were very similar.

And I'd like to know how anyone could think it was anything but over rated, but as a certain resident luma would say to each their own.

I can't really think of any overrated games other than Just Dance series. I would say that Mario Galaxy is definitely not overrated... it's one of the best Marios in quite some time.

If anything Epic Yarn is underrated. A lot of people write it off or scoff at it because it's so kiddie oriented. But the depth there due to charm and style is second to none.

For me the most overrated wii games would be Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Donkey Kong Country Reruns...I mean, Returns.

Send me the best you've got. Send me your strongest machines. The fight my brother fought, here, now, will end with me.

I don't think I can call any Wii game overrated, maybe Mario Kart Wii, I guess, but that's about it.

I usually don't call games I don't like overrated anyways.

.... or something like that.
