@WaveBoy I have a very similar opinion of the recent Zelda games as you, and I'm sad to say (Zelda was formerly my favorite franchise and the sole reason I purchased a Wii) that I played the Skyward Sword demo @ E3 and was NOT impressed at all. Very very sad.
Any capcom title for me, I just can't get into them by the time I've beaten a capcom game playing it feels like work. But it's just my opinion, I know people love capcom, but I don't!

I'm more of a 2D Zelda nut, but I have to admit SkyWard Sword looks freakin' awesome from a visual standpoint....It's almost as if A Link to the Past went 3D and I absolutely love it. This is the exact type of look I was craving for a 3D Zelda since most of the stuff has taken a darker approach aside from Wind Waker. This on the other hand looks like a beautiful colorful storybook braught to life. And the motion Controls look awesome, I'm extremely excited for Skyward Sword. If anything the touch screen controls in Phantom Hour Glass were fantastic, I can only dream of how great the MotionPlus controls will be in this. I have a feeling it's going to be the best 3D Zelda because of it. I loved in the demo how you had to twist your sword around and around to make that eye ball dizzy, or having to swipe in a certain direction to kill those certain enemies.
Anyways it's sad to hear you didn't like the demo, since most of the people that played it said it was awesome. Anyways, based on the look....This is exactly what I've always wanted. OOT, MM and especially TP didn't capture A Link to the Past's or the Minish Cap's colorful. imaginitive, virbant and surreal look. This on the other hand, pretty much does. And based on the controls, thanks god....Because this is going to make the previous 3D Zelda games feel clunky, boring, dated and archiac in comparison.
well, hopefully the game will exceed your expectations. i still am reserving some hope for the game (i have to as a zelda fanatic), but i was actually a little underwhelmed by the motion controls. they just felt more gimmicky than inventive. my main qualm with the newer zeldas, though, is a lack of non-linear exploration and the disappearance of non-required items and quests. in ALttP, you didn't HAVE to temper your sword to the max, you didn't HAVE to throw items into the fairy fountain, you didn't HAVE to find the ice rod, these were bonuses for the dedicated player. In recent games, the non-required stuff seems to have been whittled down to heart containers and bottles, oh, and the worst item ever: TP's Magic Armor. I was even upset over the Goron Sword being pretty much the only extra item in OoT, but at least it was a badass sword. It just seems strange to me that a franchise that was literally founded on the idea of non-linear exploration has somewhat abandoned that focus. that being said, if Skyward Sword even somewhat brings back a little of that emphasis, i'll be a very happy camper. if not, i don't know how many more zelda games i can drag myself through.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl seems to be the only overrated Wii game that I've played...

Good to see someone else enjoyed Rocket Knight Adventures already. One of my fave platformers, though I've only recently played through it. I also thoroughly enjoyed Rocket Knight as well, though it was missing the care and charm that made the original so classic.
As for why I never got into Mario games...well, part of it is because I grew up with Sonic instead, but most of it is because they're too hard. I've never been good at platformers, but I've always found Mario's Games far too frustrating to enjoy, and to be honest, I still do. No other series of games have ever frustrated me to the point where I've physically had to rip out the cartriges and throw them across the room. The first game in the series that I truly enjoyed was when I played the original Super Mario Bros. on the VC, and it's still probably my favorite. Afterwords, I've been able to enjoy Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and New Super Mario Bros, but rest are either too difficult or they can't hold my interest. Really, I have a lot of respect for Mario's games, but I'd be lying if I said I was a fan.
I would've said TP a few years ago but after playing it again I realised how much better it is than I thought. SSBB is my vote. Never really liked it but everyone loves it.

Thats why I love Capcom they make you work for stuff they don't just give it to you.
If SMG 2 DOESN'T deserve a 10/10, then NO game does IMHO. By that scoring system it does deserve full marks. By a percentage scoring system no game can get 100%. SMG 1 and 2 probably deserve 98% by that system ......
Klonoa 2 on the PS2 is even better than th brillaint no.1
Lastly, I think there is virtually NO overrated games on the Wii syste - BUT there is a large number of UNDERrated games. Proportionally, the Wii may have the most number of underrated games (in terms of scores and sales) of any console in history of gaming. This is a matter for another thread though.
Mega Man and Ninja Gaiden are child's play compared to Mario from my experience. And I wish I was kidding. The New Mario games don't let you game over, but that just makes it all the more punishing when I do game over, which is far more frequently than you'd think. I dunno why, I just can never get very far before I get too frustrated and quit, and unlike other games, I never feel the urge to come back. It just feels pointless to go on, once I reach that stage. I think part of it is that I've never played a game that has the same Mechanics Mario does. Most platformers that I've played rely on a few basic tricks and then builds the whole game around them. Mario...I dunno. I feel like all I really need to do is run and jump, yet there are other mechanics, too, and I can never tell what I should use! It's so frustrating! It's not because I die a lot, it's because I don't know why I'm dying! The right answer is never clear! The 3D games are a little simpler and a little easier, but 2D games are beyond frustrating outside of the original( where all you CAN do is run and jump and stuff, and the whole game is built around those limitations). Games like Mega Man, Castlevania, etc., they're just strict - you do it right or you die. If I do die, I just try to make sure I do it right the next time. It's that simple. But in a Mario game, I can never figure out what's right way to do things and I don't know if there really is a right way. This is especially a problem in Super Mario World, where you have a lot more abilities at your disposal and lots of different ways that you can beat a level, or even beat the whole game. How am I supposed to figure out the way that works if there's no right way to do things?
Mario has always been simple for me. Run, jump, collect power-ups, avoid enemies, and look for secrets. Never been difficult for me, and probably never will.
BTW, I just got Klonoa, and I agree with Waveboy. The style is beautiful, it has solid controls, and the level design is great. I do admit that 10/10 is over-shooting it, but it definitely doesn't deserve the 7/10's it has been recieving.

I think Okami is overrated I really did not get along with Okami it just did not flow well as a game and the wii pointer function was broken in it.
I agree, Okami is overrated. It should bother anyone how much fans try to sell Okami off as a quality game. The motion controls were clunky, and the presentation was ghastly on both the Wii and PS2. The visuals are just terribly fuzzy, and the lack of voice acting is inexcusable. I can never play this game for more than an hour without getting a migraine.

The visuals are not "fuzzy" you are supposed to switch the graphics to "LCD" mode.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 was great, but people seem to overlook that it had a few...questionable aspects. The central hub is just a floating tutorial that seems to merely explain parts of the game you already had to know about in order to progress. They could have crafted a bonus area to explore ala Mario 64 that was unrelated to the level adventures, instead of slowly unlocking tutorials. Also, because of the linear setup of the game, it's kind of awkward to search for green stars. If you go too far into a level and aren't 100% thorough in searching every single area, you'll have to play the whole level over. And maybe it's just me (or a messed up Wii remote), but the controls weren't always as tight as they could be, particularly anything motion-based and especially those flying segments.
That said, it does deserve most of the praise it has received, but it isn't as "flawless" as some like to make it out to be. If we're going to compare its level of polish to other games that get 10s, then it's practically a 10.5 or an 11 in my opinion.
No one said it's flawless... I think a game will never be flawless now that I think about it.
As for my I third Okami, it was a good game but not as much as people told me. Also I kept thinking I was fighting the final boss... for like 4 times lol.
"Super Mario Galaxy 2 is that sequel – much more polished than the last, equally flawless jewel of a game."-NowGamer "Overall Super Mario Galaxy 2 is perfect. Its polished design, incredible creativity and ability to entertain both the casual and hardcore gamers make a 10/10 score much deserved."-TB News Watch I could waste lots of time counting the hordes of users from this site or other sites who claim that Galaxy 2 is perfect/flawless, of course. People make that claim quite often.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad

Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
