Every Nintendo game on Wii is overrated, except for...Fire Emblem (which was never really rated by anyone in the first place).
Really, the Wii games I play have little to nothing to do with Nintendo, and as a rule of thumb those are very underrated....
This I can whole-heartedly agree with. You'd think Ninty was the only one making games these day, the way people go on about 'em. IMO, there are plenty of Second and Third party games that deserve far more credit that Ninty's games, and I'm sure we'd have even more if people would actually pay some good attention to them.
Twilight Princess is pretty overrated. I wouldn't even include it in my top 20 Wii games or even top 30 GCN games. Skyward Sword will definitely be much better.
Super mario galaxy 2. It was a good game, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't perfect. I feel like it was like a 9. The first super mario galaxy on the other hand was a 10 in my eyes. I think the whole thing just got a bit repetitive, although if you haven't played any yet, then you should get Galaxy 2 since it has more content.
For me SMG 2 is one of the top 3 to 5 games of all time and even metacritic score of multiple reviewers (some who even hatethe wii) agree.
Its a similar situation to Twilight P annd SSBB, they are outstanding and have been given their due credit by all types of reviewers.
In terms of metacritic review scores there aren't many overrated games tbh. Only maybe Madworld which should be around 70% rather than 80%, though thats nit picking.
This site gave the brilliant Klonoa a 9/10. It should be an 8 really. But that's nit-picking again.
In terms of sales there are a whole host of madly over-rated games - but they aren't being "rated" by the consumer by them simply buying them. Just poor consumer choices.
WiiWare: I'd say Mega Man series and Strong Bad series

I agree, from a gameplay perspective that game is nothing special.
Cant believe people have mentioned New super mario bros wii! the game was a class act, highly polished and a real challenge (to complete the game 100%)
They probably just haven't played it with friends. First time I played it solo, by the end I was all like "Thanks for the trip down memory lane Nintendo, can I have my money back?". But whenever I replay it, I play with friends. It makes it a completely different game and we have a lot of laughs.
some of the scenes like the lead soaring through the sky with his giant gun looked dreamy-surreal and wonderful, but the main game looks average overall.
this could be a summary of the entire game in general. Not just graphics either.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
Super Mario Galaxy, Galaxy 2, Twilight Princess, De Blob, Conduit, Mario Kart, SSBB, Prime Trilogy, Wii Fit.
The Prime Trilogy? Galaxy 2? Good lord, I wan't what you're smoking.lol And for the most part, the people that bash SSB Brawl have no idea how to play it properly, it truly is one of the greatest fighters out there. I Only do Smash Bros and Street Fighter as far as fighting games go nowadays. But ya, I had a couple of problems with the first Galaxy....I HATED the hub World and the fact that the entire experiece didn't quite feel that 'mario' Galaxy 2 is a HUGE improvement!
I agree with just about everything you said there, Waveboy.
Actually, I take back my statement from earlier about all those other games being overrated. (though I still say the praise for Zak & Wiki is unwarranted because it does so many things a P'n'C shouldn't do, and Opoona is still a kiddy RPG in my eyes) I still don't agree that any game is really overrated, in the sense that the praise that game recieves is undeserved, since it seems to imply that people shouldn't like a game, and that the opinion of those who do like the game is wrong, or that that their opinion that it deserves more praise than another game is also somehow "wrong". (I do think that it is something worth debating, though)
The only Wii games I'm willing to call "overrated" (probably for a lack of a better term) would be any game published by Nintendo, and the so-called "Shovelware" (as Jumpman suggested), and only because they get more attention than they probably should, causing great third-party games to fall in their wake.
I find that statement interesting, seeing how it wasn't especially well received on the critical front, and had less hype surrounding it than many other Wii games (particularly first party titles). You basically have a niche group of gamers who appreciate it greatly, but everyone else is pretty blasé about it. Even just looking at how many people on these forums say it doesn't appeal to them, I'd hardly call it overrated.
Yep, based on what I've played of Twilight Princess it's possibly my least favorite Zelda game. The dull drab color scheme is a huge turn off, along with the giant barren environemnts and boring-ness of it all, and the game just lacks magic...As much as I disliked Wind Waker, It's still more pleasing to the eyes, unique and enjoyable. Wind Waker And Twilight Princess are the only Zelda's I dislike.....
I agree with you on twilight princess but I like wind waker alot it fact its probably my favorite zelda next to majora mask. I never the water parts to be a big deal, I kind of liked them. Or at the least never complained about them
And I think Klonoa should of gotten a 10/10.....I'm sorry but it's easily one of the finest and most surreal, beautiful and dreamy platformers I've ever played. It's very captivating and compelling. And I actually liked the overly child-like voice acting and script....It feels like it's being read and peeled off the pages of a childrens story book, just like Elebits did. If anything the challenge could of been bumped up, but it definitly is when you're trying to collect everything. The sound track is also one of the greatest in gaming, and the game has wonderful atmosphere. Wario Land Shake it! and Klonoa will make you smile, and they'll make you happy.
And what's funny, is that when you play games as fantastic and creative as Wario Land Shake it! and Klonoa you truly realise how bland and generic New Super Mario Bros Wii truly is.
Now I can sort of understand why people like to call certain games overrated. Not that it matters, really, since you've had different experiences than I have, as well as different expectations and tastes. Still, I can't help but feel like you assessment of Klonoa is a bit...overzealous. To me, Klonoa was a fun 2.5D Puzzle-platformer, but perhaps not quite as good as the other games in the series. While I certainly appreciated its charm, it seemed pretty normal to me, at least for a game that's trying to emulate a kid's cartoon. It was certainly very unique at times, none of it was mindblowing, and it's certainly no where near as surreal as a Mario game.
But perhaps that's where we differ. I've only recently started playing Mario games, and I've honestly never played a platformer like it. Really, I personally can't say I've played any game that has the same creativity to its level designs, surrealism to its character designs, nor the level of detail and charm than what I've seen in a Mario game, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii is no exception. While I can't say I haven't played a game quite like Klonoa, either, at the same time it never feels quite as imaginitive, as if I have a better frame of reference so it never feels out of the ordinary.
With that said, I highly suggest you try out the other Klonoa games, they're quite good as well. And you definitely gotta try out Rocket Knight Adventure. I can't guarantee anything, but your reaction to Klonoa reminds me a lot of when I first played RKA. Also, the cartooniness always made me want to play Tail Concerto again. I wonder if that'll ever come to PSN?
