I have been playing this like crazy and just cant get enough. How are you guys liking it so far? Last night as i was playing,i was watching my monsters tear up some good guys and as one approached a new floor i hit the "A" button just to see what would happen.Sure enough, the monster on the floor spoke "come on baby".I wasn't sure if i was hearing things so, i began mashing the A button whenever a good guy would reach a new floor and once again the monster spoke. Does anyone know what these taunts do? I'm not sure but i think it helps your monster hit harder. Can anyone try this out?

Wasn't aware of any taunts, but it is a great game, will try pressing A on the monsters tomorrow, have completed all of the main game and chapter 6, but still have some more bonus stages from chapter 6 as well as the map 2 extra levels to do, its really hard some of them, and the DLC becomes more of a necessity than an extra really.
Anyone who does this, remember to keep mashing the "A" button as the good guy climbs the ladder and as soon as he gets on the new floor your monster should speak. (or mabey just a single timed button press,im not sure i just mash)
@blaze yea the DLC saved my life, i just wish we had a little more to choose from at the launch date..waiting till next motnhs for DLC just seems long..
@blaze Whoa we only got 2 items. I'm almost at the final battle and did it with only downloading the Darklord Armory and Vile ribbon. I'm not gonna lie i love this game so much i might end up spending a lot more on DLC than i expected.
I'm still on the fence about getting this. On one hand, it's at a cheaper default price than King, and dark lords are way cooler than kings, but on the other hand, I remember some guy on another forum saying that the DLC is required for character development. Is that true?
DLC isn't required for leveling up, though some characters can only be obtained through DLC like Kain from FF4, so its not required for character development, but is required for a bigger cast of monsters.
NO you really don't have to get the dlc ,but if you want the advantage over any battle then i 'd say yes. I've beaten many levels without having to use the dlc ,it's really all about what floors and monsters you put up.But then again there was one particular level where i had to use the dlc, it was hard for me LOL.. but replaying levels and leveling up your monsters wont cost you anything. Leveled up monsters= whoop juice.

I think DLC can double the amount of monsters, there are 4 monster DLC parts Kain Palo(I think that was the name), and 2 monster packs giving about 4 extra monsters each.
@Ricardo91 As you play through stages you can unlock additional monsters, but they are bland compared to the dlc monsters. I'm sure the dlc monsters are more powerful.

@odd69 - the taunt is in the instruction manual, it also summons the next wave of enemies and isn't as wise to do in later chapters unless you're prepared.

This game is great! I haven't downloaded any of the DLC yet but considering how tough the game is I may have to. I'm going to see just how far I can get without it!

With well thought planning, you won't need the DLC at all (except maybe the extra chapters/levels ).
