Nintendo Channel Relaunched Redesigned interface, better streaming videos and a new weekly show. Now we're talking. by Matt Casamassina
September 14, 2009 - Nintendo of America on Monday took one big step toward bettering the online and community experience for Wii users. The publisher revealed that starting today gamers can download (for free) a new and improved version of the Nintendo Channel.
All the features of the previous iteration, including streaming videos and downloadable DS games, will remain. However, there are some notable improvements.
"Some of the upgrades include higher-quality streaming videos, lists of top games that other viewers recommend and a new ability to rate and recommend Nintendo DS games," Nintendo stated.
Perhaps the biggest news, though, is the arrival of Nintendo Week, a new hosted show about "... what's happening in the world of Nintendo." The first episode, available today, features a look at Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, an interview with the developer of Guitar Hero 5, coverage of DSi and WiiWare games, and "other surprises."
What are you waiting for? Boot up your Wii, head over to the Shop Channel and download away.

The Japanese Nintendo Channel has a lot of original content like "Nintendo Week" so it will be good for NoA and NoE to follow suit. In Europe there have been a few episodes of "We are WiiWare" which is a great little expose on an individual WiiWare developer and what current game they're working on. There's been one for Ronimo (Swords and Soldiers) and one for Over the Top (NyxQuest).
Of course the big show in the Japanese one are the Virtual Console-promoting Game Center CX shows -- it would be awesome if they subtitled those and brought them overseas; especially if they tied-in with the launch of the VC games covered as it seems to cause a sales boost for titles that are featured.
but he stated that he got a newsletter from nintendo (which i haven't got either) i UPDATED it....very strange....and as far as i know Roopa doesnt have an imported wii.
I like it better than what we had. Nintendo Week is kind of corny but at the same time mainly because my nieces are up at the house every other weekend and I think they will get a kick out of the show.
I wonder why its taking so long for the UK update.
I know, for some reason the only thing I've wanted to know over the past few days, is which games I've played the most. Always wanting what I can't have.
I love the new channel i just checked it out today. They are kinda catching up with Sony and their channel (pulse). Higher quality videos are great but how about HD?
