http://img38.imageshack.us/i/ssgd3c.jpg/sr=1 It seems like this is the new villan Vaati from Minish Cap. Also you can see a Harp when Link is cutting the moster's shield. The mysterious figure seems to help give advice sowhat like midna. There is a sheild/magic bar? [youtube:daoOSfetFiI]
That is TLinkerbell to you! [17:17] theblackdragon: considering i have neither an xbox nor a ps3 :3 [17:17] Corbie: Nintendo fangirl alert!!!! [17:17] James Newton: Uh oh The James Ne...
I would love to see Vaati in more "mainstream" (for lack of a better term) Zelda — i.e. first-party, non-spin-off.
...but I would hope Nintendo could do better than that, if so. He doesn't look very good. Thankfully, I highly doubt they'd so nonchalantly reveal the main villain, unless that is Vaati before being corrupted by evil or something. No telling what those guys and gals came up with for this game.
Also, I can't help but notice that the Midna-esque helper character on the Wii Remote looks like the little girl from the Zelda teaser image from E3 2009.
Looks like Vaati to me, and it makes sense from a chronological standpoint. Minish Cap was the first in the Zelda timeline (I believe) and Skyward Sword is supposed to be early in the timeline as well.
I think that no matter what, that guy is the villain. Looking at the very last few clips (the last two), the Vaati-esqu guy is seen warping away from the top of something, and in the one before it, the monster attacking looks like the same one the guy was on before. Or I could just be over analyzing it lol
FF6: Release year- 1994 Kefka's birthday - November 9th So.... my life is practically mirroring Kefka? Cool.
pretty original design, let's hope they're tougher than TP's bosses
And nah it's pretty clear the dude's controlling him. There's even the purple smoke over his head which probably means he's under an evil spell. I wonder if all bosses will be giant statues?
My guess is whoever that character is, it's not the main villain, but probably an important charater in the storyline, kind of along the lines of Shiek. Who knows, though, could be the main baddie.
I don't think that that villain is Vaati, but completely new character. He seems to be more like Kefka from FFVI, what comes to looks. There are also some ridiculous theories claiming that he will become the Guilded Sword from Majora's mask, because he's robe has same colours, and someone saw a skull kid somewhere in the trailer what i don't understand either. It's just some random enemy if you look at it at high resolution. Whatever the case is, the wait will be long... even though for some reason i'm still not too excited about this. Maybe i've just played too much Zelda.
I kinda doubt that Vatti will be the main villain. Didn't someone say that chronologically, this is the first Zelda game? Then shouldn't Ganon be the main villain? Though fighting Vatti and Ganon would be pretty slick.

Vaati is prior to Ganon on the timeline, as I understand it.

If it's the first chronologically (is it?), the couldn't possibly be Ganon since Ganon is not yet anything more than a boss of thieves in the beginning of Ocarina of Time, as I understand / recall. Or at least, it wouldn't make much sense. It's possible they could be doing a smaller scale story where Ganon does not threaten the fate of the world, thus explaining why he's still somewhat unknown in Ocarina, but... Nintendo is not known for its subtle story lines.
And yea, I'm pretty sure Vaati is supposed to come before Ganon, though I forget how this is known.
Does Zelda really need a timeline though? Can't they just be games? Kinda like FF maybe, except they (mostly) all take place in an area called Hyrule, and you play as a dood named Link (if you name him that). And like FF they all have similar themes (and by 'themes' I mean races, geography, and legends xP) but it doesn't mean they have to have a timeline. They don't have enough story in the games to warrant one, and I don't really see why anyone should care.
I remember years ago when The Minish Cap came out, everybody hated Vaati saying he was stupid, annoying, whiny, generic, and other words like that. Now, everybody wants him to come back… Weird how people seem to can’t make up their minds and just complain for the sake of complaining until the next game comes out…
Anyway, let’s see a comparison:
I see some similarities like the tattoo on his left check, white skin, and similar hair styles. Besides that, I don’t see any other similarities. There are a large number of anime characters with that description. We don’t really know if that is Vaati. He could just happen to look similar and have nothing to do with him for all we know. Let’s just wait and see before we start to hype up the possibilities and end up disappointed in the end.
