Yes, that fake game name IS awesome.

The best thing you can do to encourage the release of quality product, regardless of type, is to buy it. Boycott the shovelware all you like (on both WiiWare and VC), but don't be afraid to buy the good stuff! Especially, as I said earlier, with the demos needing support.

We've been getting 2 VC weeks for a little while. Don't boycott WW if there are games you like. Mission accomplished.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Yeah, I was thinking that as well. With VC on the rise, boycotts seem kind of silly. Of course, there are still certain titles we're annoyingly missing, but it's improvement all the same.

Boycotting WiiWare? The only WiiWare I have is Dr. Mario Online Rx, Mega Man 9, and Tetris Party. There's barely been any games I've given a damn about. I'm totally getting Castlevania Rebirth, but besides that, don't worry. I may as well be boycotting WiiWare, I only buy games I'm legitimately interested in.

On a side note, I finally got to play World of Goo thanks to the demo. All of this waiting, and I finally get to find out it's as fun to play as the trailers made it look. I should mention, the trailers failed to interest me. I just couldn't find it fun, the game earned some rave reviews, but I guess it's not for everybody, because I hadn't been that bored to tears and disappointed with a hyped up game since Monster Hunter Freedom. Don't ever play Monster Hunter Freedom, and if anybody tells you it gets better after the first 20 hours, or that you "don't like it because you suck at it", do me a favor and punch them as hard as you can. Hell, kick 'em below the belt if you want, they probably deserve it.

I personally love Wiiware. Why would you be selfish and want to get rid of something that other people enjoy? You would have a case if no games were being released, but that simply isn't the case. I find a lot of Wiiware games creative. Let both live in harmony.

Rid? I just want more frequent Virtual Console releases! I do not want WiiWare to die.

You are not helping. I never intended this to be a one-person boycott. (I said that multiple times.)

On a less angry note:

I would buy that game.

...exactly. That game is my way of saying "the games everybody wants" (Donkey Kong 64; Super Mario Kart; Super Smash Bros.; EarthBound; Yoshi's Island; Rondo of Blood).

I didn't mean it that way. I was pointing out that the name was awesome.

...same. That name is actually rather interesting.
Heh, if there really WAS a game called Donkey Kart SmashBound Island of Blood, I would also play the game.

The VC is actually getting gradually better, and you want to boycott WiiWare? We are finally getting more than two games a week, and we are getting games from LucasArts. I just want Super Smash Bros., Yoshi's Island, Kirby Super Star, and Super Mario All-Stars on VC. But, boycotting WiiWare will not change Nintendo's minds. Buying more VC games might encourage Nintendo to release more VC games though.

I wasn't trying to. But sorry if I pushed a button. Just seems very odd tis all, this will be less effective than if you started a petition, and we all know how successful they are.

how ironic
not buying = doing nothing ≠ job

Since when did Nintendo give a damn about boycotts, do you honestly believe you will have any impact on Nintendo's release schedule? or even consumers buying habits for that matter?, seriously some people get worked up about the most stupid things, this is not apartheid SA we're talking about here its a games company for crying out loud, I fail to see what is so outrageous about the VC release schedule to warrant getting so worked up about, that you would boycott one of its services, maybe you lot expect to be hailed as some hero or something IDK, I'm beginning to think you lot put boycotts on the same level as hunger strikes for political causes, crazy.

In that case, then I am sorry. I should not have been so... blunt (even though I am trying to do SOMETHING.

...of course, reading the comments here caused me to decide (and remember) to buy more Virtual Console games in addition to the boycott. (Since boycotting WiiWare would pretty much require me to buy only VC games, I did not see the need to say the "second part" of my plan, yet I seem to need to clarify SOMETHING every time I visit this thread...)

I'm already on board, I almost never buy WiiWare. I'll only get it when it's about an existing series like Dr. Mario, or Bomberman.

You could get the entire NintendoLife community to boycott (well, you couldn't, but theoretically), and it wouldn't make an ounce of difference to Nintendo. I'm certain that one guy could make a difference if he really wanted to, but this isn't the right way. It's not even vaguely effective. Use your imagination some more and find a better way to get Nintendo's attention, maybe you'll get better results.

I think it's good that you want to do something, but if there are ever any WiiWare games that you really want, all you really end up doing is hurting yourself. By all means, focus on the Virtual Console, but I would just hate to see you miss out on a great WiiWare game in the name of making a point. I do suggest writing to Nintendo about how you feel. While one voice may not make a huge impact, there are probably many others who have voiced the same concern--if they keep hearing the same thing over and over again from different people, they might actually listen.

Certainly, without a letter Nintendo doesn't know one way or the other that you're boycotting WiiWare. Again, though, don't miss out on a great game just to make a point. You can let your voice be heard and still play any game you want.

If you find yourself spiritually drifting (as I was for far too many years), remember that Jesus can and will walk across the water to reach you and bring you back to shore.

MarkyVigoroth

My decision...
I will buy more Virtual Console, yet I will buy the full versions of the demoed games, but nothing more (for now)! I will also periodically tell Nintendo of my intentions (but not like Bob from Bob's Game, I hope), and I will think of something NEW!
