New Super Mario Bros. Wii- I think this game deserves to be better than rockband 2, GH5 or any of those terrible instrument-based rhythm games, but yet it only has a 87 on metacritic (I think) Most people are judging it on it's 1-player feature, in which most people who reviewed it played mostly 1-player. This game was born of greatness in multiplayer, always a blast to play co-op or against. I'm not saying it deserves all 10s, but a few points higher on metacritic would please me.
You can't really compare a music game to a platformer. And there not terrible. Some people see the same excitement of playing through rock songs, as other like playing through the mushroom kingdom.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
@Davva: I did indeed review Namco Museum Remix for NL and I agree, very underrated title. Ironic that Pac 'N' Roll as a standalone title on the DS got some pretty good reviews, but Remix gets all but ignored, despite being far superior to the Museum collection from the previous generation. Not enough retro fans reviewing games these days I guess...Pac & Pal is the game you're thinking of -- may not be the greatest, but it's cool that it and Cutie Q which are both previously unreleased outside of Japan made it in there.
I've got a bid on Alien Syndrome on Ebay now so I should have it next week. Since it's not had a review here yet you can expect me to weigh in on that one!
seeing that a lot of hyped shooting games with big presentation and simple generic gameplay get astronomic scores, i think a lot of games are underrated in comparison
but honestly, if i'd rely on scores i would have passed a lot of extraordinary special brilliant games this gen and would have wasted my money on about 500+ generic exchangeable actiongames...
on Wii: -i liked Punchout very much, although the scores weren't that high -also i liked Red Steel, despite low scores. of course it had its flaws, but it was special and extraordinary compared to the usual shooters and i liked it a lot more than Conduit for example -Little Kings Story didn't get very low scores, but imo it deserved higher rankings, one of my favorite games and surprises last year -New Super Mario Bros. Wii didn't get low scores either, but in comparison to many other scores of other games in my personla opinion it would have deserved much better scores, was by far the best game i bought and played 2009 on any platform
I hear its amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on hari-kiri rock!!! I NEED SCISSORS!!! 61!!!
As for underrated, I have no idea. But as for under-noticed, I'd say Mercury Meltdown Revolution. While it's technically a PSP port with with Wiimote controls, it's still good either way. And the 150+ stages don't hurt one bit.

Wii: MadWorld. (A very artistic game, that has a deep storyline. Just because it has blood and gore, it get's disapproval by alot of Wii players, and critics.) Wiiware: Bomberman Blast. (Great multiplayer action, awesome online battles, tons of variety, all wrapped into a simple, fun, and hectic game. I have no idea why this one gets rated so low.)

It doesn't get rated that low, though. lol. I'll add that lag issues bring down the experience.
Well since my thread got locked (Stop arguing or being mean to others on the forums! You'll just get the topic locked) I'll come here to say my underrated hits: de Blob Boom Blox (Barely Makes It Because it sold decently!) Link's Crossbow Training Muramasa: The Demon Blade Okami Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom (Still not doing as well as it should) Super Paper Mario (I like the more platformer like style!) Every Japanese only game. (There are extremely underrated because no one in America bought them but not many more Japanese people did )
Okami De Blob Boom Blox series Klonoa Muramasa Ghost Squad Boy and his Blob Zak and Wiki Excite Truck Kororinpa Sega Superstar Tennis (?) Little King's Story House of the Dead Overkill No More Heroes (?) Eledees Geometry Wars Wario Land Shake Dimension Batallion Wars Shaun White series Guilty Gear XX Blast Works Metal Slug Anthology Dawn of Discovery Mini Ninjas
Two or three of the above aren't my cup of tea but I acknowledge their excellence.
Underrated games (generally) by reviewers:
Mario and Sonic Series Wii Play Super Monkey Ball Step and Roll Need For Speed Nitro Link's Crossbow Training Sonic and the Secret Rings Call of Duty 3 Big Brain Academy Wii Ski and Snowboard Nerf N-Strike Another Code R EA Playground Red Steel Some of the NPC series games
