Topic: Monster Hunter 3

Hey all,

Yesterday, I beat R. Ludroth for the first time (not bragging...I know a lot of peeps find him easy. It was just my first time doing it. lol Anywho...) I was feeling good about myself and decided to go ahead and jump in and take on Barroth. I got humbled...twice. lol That said, can anyone tell me his weaknesses? (I'm using a bowgun, by the way)

I'm curious...has anyone else had issues with items disappearing entirely when doing online play? I've had some ore not register when I tried using it to forge with and then just disappear when I tried to deposit it into my box. :l

No, I haven't had any issues like that Mr Saber. :/

Barroth elemental weakness is water. He used to be my arch-enemy, but I`ve got it on a leash now.

I've just gotten to the quest where I fight Gobul for the first time, and it's driving me crazy. I've tried using various weapon types, but nothing seems to work. I've gotten him out of the water, and that makes it a little easier, but not by much. Any tips?

i love being hr31+ because of new armor and weapons!!! :D

Wooo killed another Royal Ludroth and got almost full R. Ludroth armour. I think later today I'll be ready to face the Gobul.

@SUPERZELDAMAN Nice! Don`t be afraid of gobul when you first see it. I`d recommend a weapon that can block when you fight it. And try to fish it out on land(you`ll need a frog to do so) because it`s much easier to fight.

@Rift Like I said, a weapon that can block is a good thing to have against gobul. I beat it with a Knight`s lance.

@Chucko: Is it possible to find out a monster's elemental weakness in-game, or are you using teh web to find out?

The monsters' armor tells you in a way actually.

Aha! So the armour stats kinda reflect the beastie they were taken from. Very nice. TY!

That's what I'm thinking, and noticed when wearing Gobul's armor.

Probably a stupid question, but I just got the game and have finished a few quests...and I cannot believe I can't figure this out...

But how on Earth do you view the quest map? At the beginning of each quest I take a quest map from the blue box. Yet I can't seem to access or use it. Ever. What the heck am I supposed to do? I can find options to drop it, swap it, etc...but I can't view the darned thing.

To my knowledge, you don`t "use" the map you get from the blue box. It only shows you the map in the top right corner of the screen.

Hold onto it, while you're holding you're allowed to see the map on the screen.

@CB: You're gonna kick yourself, but it should just be visible on screen. If you drop or choose not to grab it in the first place, you'll only be able to see the area you are currently in.

edit: But nevermind that. I hope you're enjoying it so far?

Wait, really? That's the map? It looks like the map I normally have by default when I enter Moga Woods. Whaaaa...?

But yes, I am enjoying it so far. I do wish they hadn't made me spend 50 minutes FISHING (and I STILL couldn't catch enough for the subquest...grumble grumble) but good so far.
