@DigitalLeisure: Thanks so much for answering me in such deep detail. SInce I posted that question last night, I have decided to take a chance on downloading Mix Superstar with no reviews or impressions to go on. So far I have been very very impressed with this app/game. I consider myself a creative person but have always had trouble trying to compose music. Even the excellent DSiWare application, Rytmik gives me difficulties in creating something that sounds good. Mix Superstar however makes it easier than ever for me to compose good sounding things. I finished my first song about an hour ago and am very pleased with how it turned out. However, if i could offer one bit of criticism to Mix Superstar it is with the exporting feature. Exporting from the Wii is quite smooth and painless but when downloading the file to my computer, it could not recognize exactly what kind of file it was. In order to rectify this I had to feed the file through Audacity and re-save it as a .wav file. The song works fine after that and sounds great but I can't help feeling like maybe to someone less tech savvy than myself might have more than a little trouble getting their song to play on computer. Perhaps this could be fixed by making exported songs mp3 files instead of whatever it is that they are. That annoyance aside though, this is one slick product and yes, it has absolutely higher polish and production values from Digital Leisure's other games. Overall I really like Mix Superstar alot and commend you on the extremely reasonable price tag. I hope this is a sign of things to come from Digital Leisure because if it is, consider me a fan!

@bboy2970 - Thanks for giving it a chance. We're very happy to hear you're enjoying your time with it! Regarding the downloading of the audio file, it should have been recognized and come in as a wav file. If you want the technical side of things, it's encoded in MS ADPCM, so your computer would need to recognize this. However, we tested downloading on many different operating systems (Win XP, Win 7, OSX) and all recognized it as a wav when downloading. Thanks again for the feedback, I'll certainly pass it along to the team.

Hey DL, i liked alot what i have seen on Sonic8 videos, but i have a question: Am I able to set the bpm to every loop, or every loop in each pack have to has one specific BPM?

@seed - Every pack can have its own BPM, you can mix and match samples of different BPMs. However, they won't align perfectly in the arranger when you drag and drop the loop in. You can zoon in to 1/16th bar and micro adjust the loops if you want. You cannot change the BPM of a specific loop. The arranger gets set to the BPM of the first loop dropped in to it. The Loop Browser displays what the BPM of the pack is when your selecting audio for the arranger. This way you can ensure that loops are a similar BPM.

Oh Well i was hoping that mixing loops from different packs would be easier, but for 5 bucks its ok. And I can always change bpms in the audacity. I think im gonna buy it.

@seed - Trust me, it's really not that hard to get the mix together. You'll get used to the controls really quickly...and yes, you can certainly edit the music even further outside of the program. Let us know what you think.

He's not just saying that. It isn't that hard. I feel like I already know my whole way around it.

Hey i am not saying its hard, but, as a musician, i would like to mix, lets say, a trip hop drum with some techno effects and a pop acoustic guitar loop. But since each pack has its own BPM and it cannot be changeable in the program itself, im gonna have to make some edition on audacity

Super-excited about this app. Besides the usual pop and rock loops, are there any loops for other genres - folk, classical, etc., either pre-installed or in the future? Mostly looking for acoustic guitar loops

Only thing even close to classical from what I've seen so far is a piano synth, but that was under techno/dance. I wouldn't be surprised to see it come up in the future.

Can someone please clarify the bpm issue. Are you able to change the bpm for each loop? Are you able to use loops with different bpm in the same song or does the entire song have to be the same bpm? Does the bpm for each loop severely limit options for putting loops together?

Would it be possible for Metal or something along those loines to be released as extra downloads ... Rock just isn't a good substitute for it...

From what I understood, each pack has a different BPM, and its not changeable. Yes you can mix loops from different packs in one song, but some stuff probably will not sync beacause it has different BPMs.

You can always export a track to your computer and change the BPM in a audio software like audacity (which is free).
