I just purchased Mega Man 9, and I've gotta say, this is probably the hardest game I've ever played. Does anybody agree?

It's hard when you start out. But as you go on you get better at it. It took me about 3 hours to beat Mega Man 9 my first time through, and now it only takes about 45 minutes.

Ok I'll just practice a bunch.

The only thing about 9 that got me by surprise with the difficulty was those things in galaxy man's stage that pull you into the spikes. Oh and those swinging platforms over spikes in Jewel man's stage. Other than that it was no harder to me than any other 8-bit Mega man.

I think it was harder than other 8-bit Mega Man games. In particualr Wiley's Castle can be brutal and you really have to come prepared. It takes a ton of practice to beat the game.

I don't know, I actually found it much easier than expected. I've had a much harder time with several of the other Mega Man games ("jump" "jump" "slide" "slide" anyone? And I do remember finding Mega Man IV (or maybe it was III) for the Game Boy awfully difficult)... Ok, not saying it's an easy game but I think I finished it within 24 hours of buying it and I'm not a master Mega Man player in any way.

It's relatively on par with the others. The GB games tended to be more heavy on instant death spikes/pits than the others, but the overall difficulty never really changed much. The entire "zomg hardest game in the series" wave mostly came from people who hadn't played any game on par with Mega Man's difficulty level in ages, and didn't remember what they were actually like.

Yeah maybe... Although Mega Man II for Game Boy was a shining exception. Really, everyone that complains about Mega Man games being hard should boot that one up, you simply cannot fail to beat that. It's both easy and alot of fun... Sure, the music is kinda high-pitched but you get used to it and the melodies themselves are good. A perfect training ground for anyone struggling with the other games.
