Topic: Lords of Thunder or GleyLancer?

Never thought I myself would make a topic like this, but I have.
Anyways, I'm planning on downloading a game on the Wii VC in a week or two, and I decided it to be a shmup. Should I try LoT or Gley, because both seem like very great games?? I liked Gate of Thunder with its intense action, but I can't seem to get past the fourth stage [what is it with shmups and fourth stages?? ] GleyLancer seems interestin' too, if only for the anime' cutscenes, and I would like to try something new [even when totally unoriginal].

So which should I get?

No contest. Lords of Thunder. And you should be able to beat it. I can beat it using only my feet.

But should I beat Gate of Thunder first, or should I just go ahead and try?

The only shmups I've legitimately beaten were Star Parodier and Detana! TwinBee [Arcade games from compilations need not apply] I once beat LIfeForce's first quest with the 30-life code. I also can never seem to beat Axelay, what's up with that? I also never seem to get past the fourth stage of Super Earth Defense Force, when my cousins can.
...I need more shmup practice.

Also, slightly offtopic, but for those who think the PC Engine is weak:

THINK AGAIN! Noone messes with the PC Engine, he is not to be trifled with. Even the Brain Lord himself took some beatings from PC because he underestimated him.

They are really nothing special. The plot is pointess and incredibly generic and dull, too. Fun game, but don't get it for the story.

Since when do I play a shmup for the plot? That's what RPGs are for.

lords of thunder has some anime in it. you need lords of thunder. not only is it one of the best shumps you can get via VC its also one of the best games ever made. it's totally beatable yet challenging and soundtrack so furious it will pump you heart faster and faster until it explodes with awesomeness. you fight like... trolls, sand worms, dragons, wizards; the enemies in this game are metal as all hell. so good. gley lancer on the other hand is good but kinda on the more classic shump side of things. space ship blowing up space ships in space. gley lancer is a great shump but is nothing special where as lords of thunder isn't a videogame...its a combination of art and science.......if you want a life changing experience cop lords of thunder and become...a lord of thunder....

Lords of Thunder all the way! Gley Lancer doesn't even compare!

Lords is pretty different from Gates of Thunder. You could still beat Gates first if you want to, but it really isn't necessary, since Lords isn't really a sequel.
