Topic: Large Channel/Game File Sizes

Yesterday, When I was installing the latest demos on a friend's Wii, I realized that almost all the space on the internal memory was used. I saved the demos to my SD card and went to launch them. Since there wasn't enough space to launch the channel, It prompted me to move the largest channel (Wii+Internet video) to the SD card. When I came home, I looked at the file sizes on my SD card. Surprisingly, the Wii+Internet video uses a whopping 1182 blocks!
I got a near-launch Wii, so I never had to deal with this video eating up space.

I am also aware of the DSi+Internet video and am wondering if it is also a memory hog. (Bought a lightly-used launch DSi)

Similarly, I am wondering why games like SSBB have such large save fines (I know about Wi-fi protected saves)? Gamecube games like Sonic Adventure DX/Sonic Adventure 2 Battle had non-copyable Chao save files separate from the game's save files. I'm sure a lot of us here (myself included), would've preferred Nintendo made Wi-fi profiles a separate save file.

What do you think?

Move the Wii + Internet and DSi + Internet videos off your devices' internal storage. You only need to watch them once to get the instructions to connect to the internet. Go ahead and delete them if you think they take up too much space.

My SD card is 4GB in size so I just keep those video channels in there. For posterity, I guess.

Well HM above me just answered the video question. As for the Brawl save file being so big, its because that's where the stage creator data is held. Any game on Wii with some sort of create options have similarly large save files. Brawl is especially bad though because it also features wi-fi which means it bars you from copying it to SD card.

Like the DSi + Internet app, it's a video playback channel with instructions on how to connect your Wii to the internet and what stuff you can do when it's online. Promotion, basically. It's included on newer Wiis. My brother's Wii which he bought in the middle of this year had it, but mine which I bought last Christmas didn't.

A channel that came pre-installed on all Wii's in 2009 or so. It encourages people to connect their Wii to the internet.

Ah, fair enough. Got my Wii before that channel arrived, then. My DSi lacked it too, guess it didn't come on launch models for that either.

Same here
My friend doesn't have an SD card, so I just deleted it.

On a side note:
Also kind of sad I can no-longer play the older demos (disk-drive, and then motherboard replacement). I'm VERY careful with my systems. Too bad the electric company occasionally fries my surge protectors/computer/Wii.
