With trades and my Game card I could probably get this down to a tenner. I'm not a fan of FPS's but quite liked Deus Ex and am assured that it's very good.

Give me reasons why I, as a non-FPS fan should buy this game.

'It's not really an FPS' is NOT a reason. I'm applying the rule of 'if it looks like sh*t and smells like sh*t then it probably is sh*t' here.

If you are like me then not being a FPS fan really hurts the game. It is a FPS, they can call it anything they want to but it's a FPS. If they would've given you the option to ploay in 3rd person like Oblivion and Fallout 3 did it would be much better. As it is, it just doesn't feel like a Metroid game.

I am the one you despise. I am he who says what you really deep down know but are affraid to admit. I am the Anti-Fanboy, the crusader of truth in a world built on your lies.

Why don't you try renting it? I wouldn't want it on my conscience to recommend this to you only for you not to like it.

There's not really anywhere round here where you can rent.

There is the good old ten day return thing that Game do.

That's like a ten day rent for FREE.*

*I've never done this, honest.

Amorous Badger - I was under the impression that GAME only returned sealed games within 28 days, rather than played games within 10. If I'm wrong, my local GAME stores are about to have some fun

As for the trilogy, I'm not a FPS fan really - although I love Halo - but I really fell in love with the first MP. Its atmosphere and production values were way ahead of the field on GameCube, and although there's a lot of backtracking towards the middle I'd still recommend it as a very worthwhile purchase. As for the other two, I never really got along with MP2 due to its dark/light mechanic (why must every Nintendo hero face off against a dark matter alter-ego?) but what little I've played of MP3: Corruption I seem to remember liking quite a lot. I'd say for £20 it's well worth a try at least.

They certainly always used to do that anyway. Things may have changed now, I'm a lot more careful with my purchases than I was.

By way of an aside, games of note that have failed the ten-day test in the past
-Timesplitters 2

  • The Getaway
  • Phantom Brave
  • SSX on tour
  • every Tony Hawk game past 4.
