Topic: Is there a secret character is Mario Galaxy 2?

I remember hearing rumors that there was "supposed to be" a secret third playable character, in addition to Mario and Luigi. (Not counting Yoshi or the Orange "Player 2" Luma). I was wondering if anyone had discovered anything more about this. Is anyone far enough along in the game to confirm or deny this? Or perhaps it's something that's unlocked after 120 stars? I have absolutely no idea, like I said, it was just a rumor. Looking for a little light on the subject. Thanks!

One review (I forget which...) confirmed that there was, indeed, a nice surprise incentive for collecting all the stars, but that it was NOT another playable character. Beyond that, I know nothing of what the ending surprise is...nor have I heard anything about a third character unlocked in any other way.

I'm almost certain that at this point it's not a furry blue mammal with spines that runs really fast.

There's no secret character. There are another 120 stars though, which are different to the first set.

Yeah, at this point, I'm pretty sure something big like a third character would've been let out of the bag. But, like Chicken Brutus said, there's probably something pretty special after you collect 120 stars, or perhaps after you collect the SECOND set of 120 stars.

After 120 stars, the game does a similar alternate-universe thing that the first game did. Except Mario swaps places with you.
